pc to tv connection help

kinda get the legist of doin this

but wanted you guys to point me in the right
direction

i have a 37" toshiba
it has two hdmi ports on the back aswell as
an rgb/pc port

just need to know what cables to buy
aswell as anything else

oh and the tv is about 3meteres away from my pc

If your PC has HDMI outs, I would recommend an HDMI cable...It carries audio too, and is a breeze to configure. This is how I have my 52" Phillips hooked up. Worked first time, no issues.

This would be the route to take since you have an ATi card that will put out sound through it's DVI ports. So get the HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI adapater for your 4850 (it might have came with one) and put the DVI to HDMI adapter on your vid card, plug the HDMI cable into that adapter, then into your PC. And then your TV should put out the video and the sound from your comp.

Or if your TV has a VGA in in DVI in you could go that method to, but sound will not go with it.

Yeah dont get a S-video cable. The max res though S-video is only 1024x768 as it was designed to be used with old crt tv's. HDMI is defo what you want to be using.

Your card should have came with an adapter. With that its possible you may not get audio.

WTH?? There is not a need for this. Respect others in this forum. No where in this thread did it say Nvidia cards wouldn't work, he just said ATIs would.

You are partially correct. Some of the 8 & 9 series/Most of the GTS/GTX series nVidia cards have an SPDIF header on the card to allow HDMI audio. Whereas ATi (HD2k & Up) has theirs integrated.

Why the hell would you do it though the S video port when you can just get a HDMI cable ?. Normally you get a DVI to HDMI plug with the v card.

HDMI is the shizzle Fo' real :laugh:

you need DVI > HDMI converter and if you have a soundcard you should be able to patch the audio through the GFX and get both sound/video through HDMI :rockout:

Just use the speakers of the computer unless you have a amp to plug the comp in to with it's own speakers.

Using s video is a funny one when you have a HDMI port on the TV.

EDIT:

Some have HDMI like mine on one plug were the the sound is on phono plugs.
Any chance of a link to this Toshiba TV ?... With mine the d plug your on about might not do the native res were as the HDMI port will..

What HD4850 Sapphire card do you have? Many of them have a HDMI port on them. Can you post a link to the HD4850 you have?

Read what exactly? I don't have any Nvidia cards at the moment and haven't used one in my comp since a ti4200, and I know for sure ATi cards can do it, so thats what I mentioned.
