I was expecting it to fail immiediatly, but it never.I dont really want to leave it for long during the day,as i need to use it,but it passed for nealy 5mins.I know its not long, but i need to use it.

The vcore went up from an indicated 1.24v to 1.26v.The max temps were about 58/9c on each core.

Its gonna be my 24/7 if it works out ok.

58c with 1.27v on 45nm? doesn't sound right, espically since you're only running OCCT (not the linpack test)

Now put 1.5 volts and you could freely join the 5Ghz club :toast:

I think there something with the 45nm sensors. It gave me different reading on different heatsink. Apparently my DarkKnight was hotter than my Scythe Ninja with no fan... lol.

In a state of flux...
Don't worry about the temps is what I say...my E8500 idles @ 35'C so it says, yet when under 100% load never gains even 1'C on air.....BS sensors. :shadedshu

E8400 used to idle @ 2'C over ambient and load at no more than 44'C, seems the E85xx/E86xx chips often lie. :)

Temps to mid 60's are fine.
OCCT 1 hr blend/medium should be stable enuf of a daily test.
Seems kinda hot for water cooling though.

Looks like a 4.4 maybe 4.5ghz chip on 1.32v

Why not linpack? That will tell you if it's unstable the fastest.

I used to own this cpu before selling it to moonpig and yes the temp sensor is completly wrong , ( was getting idle temps in the 50s).
And about that 5ghz club, maybe you can, i pushed it to 4,9ghz on a el cheapo dfi blood iron and water. ;)

Thanks The Haunted. At least i know what is going on now.

Is there any way to know how far off the sensor is?

There is no way to tell, it seem to vary depending on the mobo and pressure applied on it.
I used a backplate + high pressure and got very high temps...

So it could be running at less than it shows?

My apogee hs a back plate and screw mounts, with no springs.d'ya reckon its worth slackening off the screws a nibble? or shall i just leave it.

Yes thats for sure, and if your on water don't worry and just crank the volts, this thing is stable at 4.5ghz.
And no, the pressure only affect the sensor, not the actual temp...

Hey tig, see ya getting along well there with the e8600.
Mines been in for a few days now and the artic silver 5 is starting to bed in. Lost 5°c in idle and about 8°c under load.
I was starting to think mine was idling high and load was insane, at stock i was hitting 55°c!
Don't forget its also getting hotter outside, BRING BACK THE WINTER!!!

I'm doing a little low voltage oc atm (damn heat).

1.2v set in bios

Half an hour still going strong, i'll prob cancel at 1 hour and bump the fsb a little and start again.
