If you completely move all the gaming stuff on tpu and moved it to gpu. Or like a link where it takes you their but you get to keep your same user name and stuff and post wise you could have like a tpu post count and gpu post count. I was actuly going to look for a game on gpu till i found out i couldnt get into the site oh well.

I dont think GPU is needed personally. I think just a couple of sub-forums to the Game section here would be enough.

RIP Gamepowerup. I doubt it'll be revived, it needs some serious originality, yet something that the current powers that be agree with. Not saying that's a bad thing, but the limitations on the site as it was, and lack of support didn't help. I miss even just cleaning spam from the forums and the few that visited and posted, but in the end, Gamepowerup wasn't meant to be and probably shouldn't have been started as there was no serious gameplay laid out or push for improvement or uniqueness. It was extremely simiilar to TPU to such an extent it wasn't worth getting a new forum account there...it was just as easy going to the small games section here. That's why I think the entity that was Gamepowerup should become an extended games section on TPU.

Not saying my outlook is right or completely justified, but as a severely dissapointed individual that created a thread that helped launch the site, created an in-depth CoD4 review, tried to get more visitors and keep the forums clean only to have one random day a (what I considered) online home dissapear was dissapointing. Gamepowerup won't be worth the time of this place overall, sure there are tons of gamers, and it would be better justified initially to start with a larger gaming section that maybe grows into it's own forum/site, but not starting a "TPU clone" site as a gaming site, that failed, really bad. And watching that failure, I almost feel I f*!#ed up just starting that thread and getting the ball rolling almost 2 years go.

GPU! Failed...GPUz came up, other important things came up, and personally I feel that there were some things that should've been ran by other staff that had the time to monitor or more involvement by those that could make changes to have had that site grow..but enough pissing and moaning, it didn't happen, sad truth...even if GPU! was open today, it wouldn't be any different from 2 years ago...and so I think W1z did a justifiable thing by closing GPU! down. Dump the least intersting project in better pursuit of the support for the main money maker. That's totally the way to go, I can't blame him or others that may have helped make the decision, even if that's not the reason, GPU was going nowhere and wouldn't have. If you want a gaming site, you're better off browsing the 1000's of them already out there till you find one that fits your needs and comfort level...there isn't one that has a forum like TPU, which was part of why I loved GPU, but none-the-less there's plenty of gaming sites out there, and maybe someday, if enough of you want it, there's a small chance a justifiable purpose could be proposed to increase the size of the Games section of TPU Forums...but at the same time he's posted a few times good reasons for not wanting to, and I agree there too. Thing is, if you like gaming and the game's section doesn't do it, go somewhere else for that stuff. Fow now from my view, that's how it works, and that's how it is, that could change someday...and I hope it does, but until then, just gotta keep on enjoying what is provided and helping it grow into something positive and useful at the same time.

a bigger gaming section would be nice but not too big just a console section and a reviews section would be cool, i think for what it is having it split into different console sections and types of games would be too much

i think it was too big a task and nobody made a plan for it, nobody really input anything to the site and no one joined

same could be said about general nonsense 2.0 i mean do we really need a brand new forum when there are plenty of sites in that mould i keep using facepunch as an example but its the easiest one i can think off

i mean i just occasionally post in the original GN so there is no point in me joining the new forum, i wasnt a part of any gaming site or gaming forum so it felt like a nice idea to join gamepowerup but for users of other sites there was no incentive to join

i dont really think that gamepowerup will come back more likely an expanded games section

it wasnt a site like joystiq or anything which have the content, it relied heavily on users sending in news and if they didnt nothing happened, it needed dedicated news reporters to get the news for it and dedicated reviews, it never had its own original feel either or an original name it was just a TPU clone

I'd be all for an expanded gaming section, though i wouldn't start with seperate console support, I'd split it into PC Gaming and Console Gaming to start...see how that worked out tbh. That way it's more managable, and growing from there into a dedicated forum section would be a better reality. If beyond that support and volume grew, maybe a seperate forum...but as seeing as that's been a failure with GPU! and General Nonsense 2.0...I dunno if that's a good idea for TPU to expand...if it's gonna be a different site, it needs to be unique, something worth visiting beyond just going...oh, the link on the forums sent me here...I need to make a new account? WTF?!?!?!

Unless that portion of the site was depreciated/removed from TechPowerUp. What I don't understand with GPU and GN is why TPU insists on deconstructing/out sourcing parts of their original site? I could understand it if the volume was overwhelming the TPU server but that's clearly not the case.

I can understand the idea of making a TPU network of sites but, in order for that to succeed to any measurable degree, it has to have a single login applicable to all sites on the network (like GameSpy ID, EA Account, or Microsoft .NET Passport) and switching between network sites must be seamless. Furthermore, there has to be something that warrants the existence of multiple sites--duplicates tend to widdle down over time (like FilePlanet/3DGamers).

As stated previously, GPU was taken down because it didn't have a vision. GN is treading that same beaten path.
