Need Serious Help

Okay. So my mom was on the computer and a pop-up (apparently she didn't realize it was a pop-up) came up saying her computer had a trojan on it. So she clicks it out of instinct it the ad downloads this gay ass AntiVirus crap. She didn't realize it was downloading the program was on our computer and it kept telling you to remove the trojan, but they wanted you to buy the full licensed version first. So I removed this AntiVirus program from the computer and it is fine now.

Here's the fun part. The next time I go to turn on the computer, it loads up, but none of the desktop icons are the taskbar loaded on the screen. So I did ctrl + alt + delete and logged off the account on the computer then logged back in. Then everything loaded up. But then I tried the internet and the internet didn't work. Does anyone have any help or solutions to give? I would really appreciate it because if I don't get the computer working myself, my mom wants me to pay the bill to repair it.

Try a system restore point?

Maybe throw in the OS disc for a fast repair spin?

Tell your ma to pay you to fix it. Give her some lessons on viruses, trojans and the like. If you can't get on the internet to get Malwarebytes, dl it on another computer and use a usb drive or just reinstall Windows. Tell your mom you love her.

Well I turned on the computer and everything loaded so that's good. I didn't even do anything to it yet though lol >.<

However, the internet is still not working. I'm going to reset the modem and router, then try a few other things. If they don't work, I'll need some help.

Backup what you need and re-format, its normally quicker and makes sure you did get rid of anything you had

I think I'm going to do that. I just restart the computer and it's doing the BS where none of the desktop icons or the taskbar show up.

try vundofix in safe mode.

So I've done a system recovery. But it still does startup with no icons and taskbar. Internet also doesn't not seem to work even though it's connected. I don't get an error but the page just never loads.

Well the computer had Norton AntiVirus 2006 on there so I took it off because it was most likely messing with firewall settings and internet options. Uninstalled it and the internet works so far.

Edit: No, I haven't. Haven't had internet working.

Well you could have installed it it via flash after downloading it from another computer.

I hate Norton so much caused more trouble then good. Just download Maleware Bytes and you'll be good.

I got it fixed guys, thanks. Had to use my own tactics though.

Only thing is when I turn on my computer and I try to run Firefox like 30 seconds after startup, it takes like 15 seconds to open. Like there is a delay.

Sounds easy but not so easy when the only USB drive at my house is lost somewhere and I can't find it.
