Hey guys i have a Xtreme Audio card (not the best but does its job) and i have a cinema system that has a SCART cable, RGB and S-Video at the rear at the moment i have 1 plug to RGB cable however since the 1plug only goes in the standard sound port i wanted to know if there is a cable that goes from all the rear sound card ports to a cinema system?

if thats possible to sound would actually come from the rear speakers

Thanks,

I don't think I understand. If you have 6 (5.1) leads coming from the sound card, I assume that there are 6 inputs on the home theater back panel. If so, and you're looking for a single cable that combines all 6 leads, I've never seen anything like that.

I did a search and there seem to be similar sorts of things for game consoles, but I don't think that's what you're after.

No what i meant is i have this cable http://www.cablecity.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=22_23&products_id=216 the one jack is from the rear of the card (black plug) and the phono goes into the cinema system, what im asking is it possible to get a cable that has more than 1 black plug since just one plug doesnt activate surround sound

So something that would plug into all the sockets at the back of the xtreme audio then link to the cinema system

We need the model of your Cinema system.

Looking at your receiver's manual, there is no way to input true surround sound from an auxiliary source. You might be able to enable virtual surround sound (like Dolby Pro Logic), but true 5.1 inputs do not exist for your setup. I even looked into SCART breakouts, and they only offer Stereo input.

Sorry, it can't be done.

by 'cinema system' I'm pretty sure Wile meant the Home Theater system (usually consisting of 5.1 speakers, tuner, amp and dvd/BR player).

But I think I've got it now. That audio card looks like it has 2 'stereo' (i.e., 2 channel) outputs and 2 mono (i.e., 1 channel) outputs. That's the only way I can see you getting 6 channels out of it.

Here's an example of the mini-stereo to RCA cable

Here's the y-adapter

Anyway, assuming that's true, the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to get 3 mini-stereo (male) to RCA (male) cables and one mini-mono (male) to mini-stereo (female) adapter.

That combo will do what you want, but these are not audiophile quality cables. However, if you look around, you can probably find some. The y-adapter would probably have to go and you'd have to substitute some flavor of monaural cable. I don't think 'audiophile' y-adapters exist - sort of an oxymoron.

Ooops. I didn't look up the specs on the card. I assumed it was a 5.1 type card, but I guess not.

Nevermind.

He does have a 5.1 card. What he doesn't have is an AV system that will accept 5.1 inputs of any kind.

There's really only a couple of inputs that will do true surround sound, really only 3 that are common on home theater systems. Those are digital optical and digital coaxial, and more recently HDMI. The only other way would be to have outputs from your card for analog surround sound, which it doesn't look like you had. As Wile E said, if your system is capable of Pro Logic (I or II) then that'll be the closest to surround you can get. It'll play through all speakers, but it won't have 5 distinct channels like true surround sound, rather just stereo (2 channels) replicated around.

So really my cinema system is the one that wont allow it because of the lack of inputs? but even with the 2 channels as farlex85 stated i dont really get it on the rear speakers and only on the three front ones and subwoofer

even having the sound coming better out of the rear speakers would make me happy lol im going to purchase a new control for the system because the other is bust

but i take it there are no optical to scart/phono/s_vid adapters?

Nope. And Scart, from what I can tell, will only input stereo audio anyway.
