9600gt drivers wont install

As the title says i can not install 9600gt drivers. i've tried 190.65 and 190.32 64 bit.

I ran driver sweep and it didn't help.

Specs are

Vista Ultimate 64bit
Samsung f1
E7200
EVGA 9600gt
Antec earthwtt 430w
patriot 4gb ddr2 800
Asus P5kE-Wifi

No oc, all legit

Fresh install?
Use older drivers first before using the new ones.

im going to try it in my machine first. if that doesn't work i'll have to RMA it i guess.

I've seen that happen before, usually it is when the drivers are installed, but the card isn't using them for some reason.

Probably a bad card, the artifacts are probably signs of the card being damaged and freaking out when hardware acceleration is active.

it only does it at the splash screen in vista, once in vista its no problems. im going to try it in my i7 tower and my gtx in the antec tower and see where this goes, but why would it artifact at splash but not in vista?

That is odd. Maybe the drivers are crashing during the splash, and vista is disabling them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Vista doesn't load the video drivers in the splash screen. Best thing to do here is to try another rig or use linux :O

Loading the video card drivers is part of the startup processes, so yes it does happen during the splash screen AFAIK.

o What are we talking about the boot screen or splash screen aka login screen?. Because the boot screen doesn't have drivers applied, however it does load them. On the splash screen the drivers are already loaded

Ok, so i got home took the card out and put it in my i7 rig. Same thing, 640x480 and no options to change res, shows up in device manager ect.

Stick my gtx 260 in the antec, boots up, lets me change the res, everything works.

freaksavior - sorry, i just remember facing something like this. Let me know if it's the same case............

Here's what I face.......
1. card not detected in device manager
2. artifact when Windows is loading
3. no artifacts when at desktop, it works as standard VGA.

i face that with a GTX280 before and my conclusion was that the card went bonkers.

is that what you face? basically the card lost its identity.
