Fujitsu Unveils Esprimo Q1500 SFF Desktop

Fujitsu unveiled its newest desktop, that can be tucked away in a corner making more space on the desk. The Esprimo Q1500 is a lunchbox-sized small form-factor (SFF) desktop that's around the dimensions of the Apple Mac Mini, only more powerful. Under its tiny lid is an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53 GHz or Celeron 900 2.20 GHz processor, Intel GM45 chipset, 4 GB of system memory, 320 GB storage, and a slot-in Blu-ray combo drive or DVD writer. Connectivity options include gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, 801.11 b/g/n, and 6 USB 2.0 ports. Display outputs are care of DVI-D and HDMI. An 8-channel Realtek ALC888 codec covers audio. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. Measuring 165 x 165 x 50 mm (LxWxH), and weighing a mere 1.7 kg (3.75 lbs), the Esprimo Q1500 makes quite a statement, even more so since its notebook-grade hardware draws 19W of power when idling. Expected to ship later this month, the Esprimo Q1500 is expected to sell for 699 EUR.

That is quite a powerful mobile processor they got there. Better than the Celeron 900 alternative.

Depending on what on-board graphics it has, it looks like it could be a pretty nice, small, and compact HTPC.

It has the Intel GM45 chipset, which means the nasty Intel 4500MHD graphics. :banghead:

It does H.264 acceleration, so it's fine for this application.
Although the P8700 alone should already be able to handle 1080p encodes.

Yep, not a gaming machine by any stretch of the imagination, but enough for 1080p in basically any configuration and comes with a Blu Ray drive. Any basic HTPC usage is met, as well as any non-graphics intensive laptop application.

Still would be nice to see the same thing with a 9400M or something as the IGP.

not a gaming machine, but holy hell its one HTPC.

i had an intel 3500 (not sure on the model number, but i recall 4500 being the model up) and it was perfectly fine for aero in vista, and watching movies.

remember that if you arent using DXVA you arent using hardware acclereation - so a weak video card doesnt stop you watching 1080P media decoded by the software.

gigabit, bluetooth, HDMI, powerful CPU... seriously, this is a god in the itx realm.
