Did You Spend A Lot on Video Games This Year?

I spent $50 on a processor, $70 on a board, $60 on another processor cause my board and processor blew up when I pushed it too hard, $60 on a video card cause the aforementioned event killed my 9800gt.

Games... umm... $25 in total? I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. when they had that special on Steam. I also bought TF2 for $20.

I havent bought a New game in forever. I still have alot to play. On the List is Borderlands, LFD2,COD MW2, And Batman Arkham Asylum. I'm Finishing Up all the Achievments In COD4 and WAW so that has been keeping me busy. I also Started playing through Hitman Blood Money again..Great game, and modding GTA SA which is pretty cool.

i dont count WOW as game. its an immaterial Drug.
one, that can addict severly. i dont know if the rumors are true, it was designed with the help of Psychatrists...
but i know many people that FUCKED UP their life, because there was always another Raid,always another Quest to do. i played for 2 weeks. and i couldnt free me from that. luckily it was a test-account, so after 2 weeks, i was kicked back to reality. never played WOW after again.
i wouldt recommend WOW, unless you got no Real Life either. in this case, WOW, is one of the few things, that might has a use.

I gave up on EVE cause I could be playing more interesting games that actually dont take years to get somewhere. SO it seems like people did not go through with the boycott. Considering how much people complained about the Activision raising the retail price to $60 and the lack of dedicated servers for PC it seems like all the bitching was for nothing. So in retrospect, have you spent more money on video games(any platform) this year compared to prior years?

Well you have to take into consideration that most of the people bitching were PC gamers and since this game released on two consoles and the pc it was bound to do well.

I'm one of the people that swore the game off and I still have not played it nor will I ever play it.

Thats said I have spent less money this year because I'm a new father and I don't have time to play games liked I used to.

What you need to remember here is, Activision raised the cost of the PC game to $60, not the console game, and off the top of my head, I know 9 people who picked this up for consoles, and only 1 person who got it for PC.

The only games that I have bought this year are budget titles. Not a single 360 game, or PC game over $20. Most of the games that I bought came from steam weekend deals, or D2D deals.

I've been subbed to Warhammer Online all year, so that's about 150$ so far. On top of that I got Fallout 3, and just bought Dragon Age: Origins last night. I'll be around 300$ on the year, significantly more than any other year I've bought games.

On the topic of MW2, I signed that petition and haven't looked back. I loved CoD4, still play it on a regular basis, but gutting a game to appease consoles is just irritating. They made their name on the backs and wallets of PC gamers. This is just a slap in the face and a load of disrespect. It bothers me further that so many people abandoned the petition and bought the game anyway.

What makes me really laugh however is the surprising amount of Xbox owners that pirated the game.

I don't have exact figures, but I certainly spent more on games this year. I've bought at least five and they're usually premium ones. I bought them all at the discounted price on Steam though.

Money has been a little tighter plus the gf takes up a lot of time, I definitely spent less this year than last. I will be dropping the money on starcraft 2 and diablo 3 the instant they come out though.
