Temp readings from realtemp is saying I'm running at 44/44/49/48 at idle. And after running Prime95 for 15 minutes I maxed my temps at 63/62/65/64. From all of the research I have done this seems to be a bit high for the idle temps. I have tried reseating the HSF 3 times now and still keep getting the same results. I have all of my 6 fans at top speed connected directly to the 12v molex. This BEAST is screaming at me right now. The case itself is cool to touch.

I would love to do a moderate overclock but would really like to try and get the temps down a bit before I do.

Do I need a better HSF or is there something I need to know about installing it? Maybe I've just gone retarded today and can't get the job done right. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds about right for the F7P. Might want to look into a new cooler.

Any suggestions on an alternative that is in the mid range for price?

And is it safe to try and OC this thing currently or should I forget about that idea until i get a better cooler?

Grab one of the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 variants. Fairly cheap, and good performers for the money. Far better than a Freezer7 Pro. The f7pro was never really designed with quad cores in mind.

JrRacinFan - I'm new to the lingo so I'm guessing you mean core voltage. It's at 1.296 according to CPU-Z.

Will E - I'll check out the Xigmatek. I didn't know the Freezer 7 wasn't for quads or I wouldn't have got it. I only bought it because a guy who handles all of the tech issues where I work swore by it. Last time I listen to that guy.

High temps in conjunction with a high vcore is what you have to look out for. Keep it at 1.3 or under. You are fine.

Awesome! Now all I have to do is figure out the rest of this overclocking thing and I'm golden. Thanks for the help. I guess I'm just being paranoid cuz this is the first rig I've built in years and all the tech in it is completely knew to me.

That last time I built anything the Ti4400 was considered a great graphics card.

He's ok for stock speeds. Going any higher in temps isn't really recommended. The Freezer isn't up to the OCing task on a quad.

Probably gonna ditch the Freezer soon. I'm now debating the Cooler Master V8 or the Xigmatek S1283V. Getting into overclocking was part of the reason I built this machine. So if the Freezer has to go its gotta go.

i have the same temps with a F7P with a Q9550 @ 3.3 1.14v. i think its fine right... lol Or i could just be used to my old 939 temps :x

You might want to look at the deepcool ice blade pro if its available where you are. Running my i7 920 c0 @ 3.4 1.35v and temps have never gone above 55 and thats with only one fan.

I'm going with the dark knight. Should be here in about a 5 days max I hope. Ordered it from the EGG. Will update when I get it installed. Only problem I foresee is the White Led fan it has with it. May clash a bit with all my green ones. Suppose I could always slap another fan on it. Maybe a Noise Blocker since my case is a screamin' banshee already.

Thanx for all the help and suggestions.

freezer pro was a good cooler but its now a design that is years old, they have released a rev 2 version which speaks for itself imo. ihad one on a 4300 and it got it to 3.6ghz which i was happy with.

if you can fit one get an ifx-14 keeps my quad around 55c depending upon ambeint @4.25ghz :D
