My first time using triple GPUs of any kind (ATI or Nvidia). Tight fit there with the HD5870s slotted into PCI-E x16 #1 + #3 + #5 slots.

For 3x HD5870 Tri-CF

For 2x HD5870 CF

System:

Only 3d Vantage posted rest of the results at http://i4memory.com/f18/hd5850-hd5870-hd5970-owners-club-21041/

3x HD5870 Tri-CF
3d Vantage @850/1200 vs @950/1250

@850/1200 at 1.149v
@950/1250 at 1.149v

Pushed W3570 a bit higher at 27x173bclk for 34,904

2x HD5870 CF
3d Vantage @985/1263

@985/1263 at 1.212v

Here's hoping to 9.12 drivers being much better :D

Nice results, dude. A little jealous here :) . Although, I'm guessing you're noticing the uselessness of tri 5870 when you are so CPU bound. Yes, the Nehalem / Bloomfield is a bottleneck even at over 4.5Ghz. Scary isn't it? Dual 5870s seems to be your best bet! I'm sure you can just gimme the extra one. lol.

Nice results.

It looks better without the Sapphire logo and the mascot girl.

Awesomeness - 300% with them on.

nice numbers
thanks!

haha bought them second hand off a friend Frenchlick from OCAU/i4memory.com forums as he upgraded to 2x hd5970 after a few weeks with the triplets. :) HD5870 = AUD$500/each :D Merry Xmas to me :)

Do your really think there is a bottleneck with 3 GPU's? There seems to be a good performance increase from two cards to three.

LOL there definitely doesn't look to be a bottleneck at all with that kind of increase. You went from 26K to 37K which is pretty amazing for Tri-anything, the more the cards, the crappier the scaling.

@ OP Decrease the core clock back to 4.0Ghz and see if the GPU score changes, if not then the CPU is not bottlenecking anything except the CPU score, which will never match what a physX system can hit anyways, nor does CPU count for anything in games anyways.

I see no bottleneck either. Those are the most incredible scaling results I've seen for 5XXX cards to date. Stellar rig you have there eva.

Santa came early brah, good for you :toast:

my 5870 is a sapphire and I don't like the logo/chick really at all, good thing I don't have to look at her when she's in the PC.

bottleneck i was referring to 3dmark06 and 3dmark05 not vantage hehe

These new 9.12 beta (8.14.10.0716) drivers are bloody awesome for 3x HD5870 Tri-CrossfireX - new personal best scores all round for me. Even managed to squeeze out a bit more on my W3570 using 29x multi instead of 27x multi and jump in vcore from 4614mhz at 1.448v to 4695mhz 1.520v.

Only on TPU? :rolleyes:

@eva - That's just freaking SWEET 40K GPU score alone would make me grin from ear to ear.
thanks did improve on it with 1000/1275 clocked gpus below :)

will do after i wake up - off to bed now :)

Still on leaked 9.12 8.14.10.0716 beta drivers. Tried higher cpu clock but W3570 seems to hang in CPU tests at 4723Mhz for Vantage but fine for 4753Mhz 3dmark05 at least (max 3dmark05 benched on W3570 HT On H20 is 4803Mhz).

My first bench with GPU clocked at 1000Mhz @1000/1275 :D

A while back there was a guy who hooked up four of them in crossfire.

The fourth GPU actually resulted in a decrease in performance (about 10%) , so three is the way to go.

Nice ram. Nice Mother Board.

I would be interested in hearing the power draw of your system when you're b.o.i.n.c.i.n.g. at 100% usuage on Collatz.

Kill A Watt is a device which just plugs into the socket, and tells you how much power you're using. New Egg sells them for $20. Of course if you have a watt meter it's the same thing.

above benches peak power draw using powermate wattage meter = ~890-900 watts.

Installed a few more benchmarks :D

Using 20" BenQ 1600x1200 LCD Monitor so max res is 1600x1200

All DX11 Benches below @1024, 1280 and 1600 resolutions

Very nice Eva. Did you need to tweak ioh/ich voltages at all to get better scores?

Thanks bunches.
