I noticed that my mouse, the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, has lower DPI in Windows 7 than in Vista and XP. I'm certain because the drop in DPI is pretty big and easy to notice, probably like a 50% drop and it takes an extra swipe to get to where I want. There are no W7 drivers (couldn't find them online, CD says it won't run due to compatibility issues) plus I don't think that's the issue since I didn't install the drivers on Vista (family rig) or XP (lappy).

Any suggestions on how to solve it?

All that has happened is the sensitivity has went down. Just up it in control panel. Also the reason you didn't need to install previous drivers is because it either used default drivers in xp and vista or it downloaded the proper one's without you noticing.

I had no idea I could adjust DPI via Windows... then why do people need 5600 DPI mice?!?!

Oh and thanks, I got it. I can't really thank right now.. I think I did it too much to an old thread of mine.

DPI and sensitivity are different apparently. I always said if you want the mouse more sensative just change the slider.

if you get a low DPI mouse and turn the speed up too high, it goes all jumpy and erratic.

you only need really high DPI mice if you love high speed... for the normal users, they've been better than we need for a long time.

(laser vs optical is a different thing, laser mice just move smoother regardless of DPI :) )

5600DPI at full sensitivity is ridiculous anyway. I have the razer mamba and all it does at that sensitivity is fly across the screen when ever i bump the desk. I can't even click icons with it.

I got the Lachesis some time ago and I had to bump it down to 2000 DPI. Only reason I got it though is cause my Diamondback was going out and I had Best Buy gift cards.
