TBH I prefer Intel myself but for the price of one good Intel build you can build 3 "OK" AMD builds and I can't be the only who notices that AMD stays about 1 year to a year and a 1/2 behind Intel's progress. ( I don't build for performance I build out of boredom so Lately I build with AMD )
It's easier to compete when you already know what the competition offers

and TBH I think AMD filed suit not really thinking they would win and did

This is almost as funny as the guys working for SonyEricsson, so many there who has an iPhone instead of an SE phone..
But see the ironi(irony) in the entire thing, the exec would rather go with an Intel or something else than AMD, that makes me wonder - is there anything wrong with AMD's cpu's??

I work in the business district in the city of Irvine. And I see people who work for one company that purchase goods from their competitors all the time.

They're just trying something new. Those guys who work for Sony probably seen the SE phone all the damn time. So they get bored of it.

Ancient history from a "former" employee. Anyway, didn't AMD have the better architecture in 2004? Seems everyone I know was building Athlon64 systems vs. the hoary old P4s and the underwhelming Pentium D.

I don't like to take sides, I'm a consumer and always go with the better deal, BUUUT I just have to say this:

If this is Intel's best defense, they should get ready for some serious pwning from the FCC. For me it's obvious they did something wrong, otherwise big companies like HP, Dell and IBM woudn't start complaining. They just don't have a reason to file a complain from Intel unless they've been mistreated in some way. It's just not in their best interest to risk damaging their relationship with their biggest supplier.

It's a shame that the AMD exec had to say something like this--he just hurt himself (his corporate profits) by doing this. AMD needs all the help they can get so that they can do more research for a better chip against Intel. Also, with more funds, they could be able to afford dedicating some more resources to being involved with game developers (like Nvidia's TWIMTBP), or to even afford (at least spare some courage) giving us an option for full trilinear filtering in games, for example.

There are two GPU manufacturers and two CPU manufacturers and they can`t stop beating each other. I would love to show up third player on those markets.

I'd like to see like a dozen more in both those markets

Prices were way better in the Clone Days
