Why is the driver version blacked out???

The driver version is not blacked out, the Catalyst version is.

Beta, RC and Internal builds of ATI drivers don't carry a Catalyst version they will carry over whatever version was listed from the previous driver.

Fair enough, thanks for answering. Testing now. No performance gains to be seen.
