System:
  • Intel i5 750 L925B626
  • Corsair H50-1 s1156 H20 + stock 59cfm Corsair fan (pump on cpu fan header, fan on cpu_pwm fan header)
  • DFI LP DK P55-T3EH9 12/08 beta bios
  • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI video card to start with
  • 2x2GB A-DATA 2000X dual channel kit #4 (modules 7+8)
  • 640GB Samsung SATA
  • Pioneer DVD-R
  • 1KW PC&C Quad SLI psu
  • Additional cooling: 120x25mm Spire 75cfm fan over cpu socket/pwm area and 60x25mm Sunon 23.5cfm fan over PCH chipset heatsink

4GB A-DATA 2000X Kit #4
CAS 8 Overclocking Tests - Round 1
For CAS8 clocks on kit #4 definitely better than kit #5. But still DDR3-2000Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T has minor errors on DFI DK P55-T3EH9 even though same kit #4 on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution did DDR3-2000Mhz 7-8-7-24 1T at 1.58v ??? Weird ? Could be board/bios related or just my i5 750 doesn't like 7-8-7-24 on these modules than much ?

Strangely for kit #4 finding 8-9-8-24 clocks a bit easier to clock than 9-9-9-24 ?

2x2GB A-DATA 2000X dual channel Kit #5 modules 9+10
  • on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution did DDR3-2000Mhz 7-9-7-24 1T at 1.60v
  • on DFI DK P55-T3EH9 does
    • DDR3-2000Mhz 8-9-8-24 1T at 1.264v CPU VTT at 1.66v (4x 32M) - loosen tRFC 110 and tFAW 37 and tRRD 5
    • DDR3-2168Mhz 8-9-8-24 1T at 1.342v CPU VTT at 1.78v (single 32M) - loosen tRFC 110 and tFAW 37 and tRRD 5

2x2GB A-DATA 2000X dual channel Kit #4 modules 7+8
  • on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution did DDR3-2000Mhz 7-8-7-24 1T at 1.58v
  • on DFI DK P55-T3EH9 kit #4 scales with just CPU VTT more than Kit #5
    • DDR3-2008Mhz 8-9-8-24 1T at 1.264v CPU VTT at 1.58v (4x 32M) - tRFC 74 and tFAW 20
    • DDR3-2108Mhz 8-9-8-24 1T at 1.282v CPU VTT at 1.66v (4x 32M) - tRFC 74 and tFAW 20
    • DDR3-2194Mhz 8-9-8-24 1T at 1.282v CPU VTT at 1.70v (4x 32M) - tRFC 88 and tFAW 30

DDR3-2008Mhz 8-9-8-24 1T at 1.58v

Yup looks good indeed

DDR3-2274Mhz 8-9-8-27 1T at 1.72v
Loosened timings alot more, pushed voltages a bit more and dropped QPI frequency from 4.8GT/s (18x multi) to 4.27GT/s (16x multi) to achieve my highest frequency so far for bclk 227bclk as well as for memory frequency @DDR3-2274Mhz 8-9-8-27 1T at 1.72v validation and @DDR3-2247Mhz 8-9-8-27 1T at 1.72v for Super Pi 1M.

4GB A-DATA 2000X Kit #4
CAS 7 Overclocking Tests - Round 1
Now to CAS7 timings for 2nd kit #4. The same trend continues, kit #4 has better CAS7 overclocking headroom than kit #5. Goes to show not all memory are created equal :)

Kit #4 managed DDR3-1948Mhz 7-8-7-24 1T at same settings and same 1.70v vdimm which is much higher than Kit #5's max DDR3-1834Mhz 7-8-7-24 1T at 1.70v. But kit #4 like kit #5 didn't scale any higher with loosened tRCD of 9 or 10 (7-9-7-24 or 7-10-7-24).
