Hi friends,

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 17 lappy which has core i5 430M CPU in it.
I tested it today , I run prime95 will full stress, ( also tried OCCT ) but it shows only 1400Mhz in CPUz at full stress load!! I am new to Core ix series, is it normal that with HT enabled it drops to 1400MHz only? I checked power management , power scheme is high performance while tested this.

Here is the screenshot..

Yup, as i said, I have set it to "high performance" in power options, also running it on AC power!

Open your BIOS, and if CPU Configuration are available in your BIOS, please disable C1E (Speed Step) and EIST mode. that will make your processor running into FULL Clock again.

Will check it out, however I never heard that C1E and EIST could lower the CPU freq!! I have both enabled on my Q9450 and it works very well! Also, checked on Txxxx series C2D mobile, it also works fine with both features enabled! I will have to look into BIOS for this.

C1E and EIST design for energy saving mode, that can make your processor to be underclock, (they lowered CPU multiplier to half from original setting)

mostly found in Gigabyte and EVGA boards. i dunno in DELL Laptop, but if you can access Chipset configuration, you just disabling them, and everything will be alright.

Still, I m not getting it! I know about C1E and EIST, it always comes enabled by default, but I havent heard about such problems that it lowers CPU clock even on full load! It should lower the multi and clock only when CPU is idle or under less stress.

Atleast it should reach to its stated 2.27GHz! Turbo mode is still enabled , with turbo mode it should reach 2.53 on load! lets forget about 2.53, I would like to see it doing 2.27 1st .

it got resolved itself. I downloaded newer CPUz version today and checked ( however newer version is same as shown in screenshot ) it shown full 25xxMHz on load! :).
