Should i get 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 or the 500GB version.
Does the size affect the speeds?

Thank you!

I wouldn't advice you to go for SAMSUNG when talking about such a sensitive matter as data safety. But, anyway, they make some pretty decent vacuum cleaners.

Go for Seagate, Western Digital...

samsung make great hard drives. They're more reliable than seagate and WD these days.

500GB and 1TB will be the same in speed, more or less - the 500GB will just have less platters (and therefore, be quieter, cooler, and use slightly less power)

F3's are the fastest 7,200RPM drives on the market atm - go for it.

I was testing F3 1TB from a friend of mine when i was building him a rig. And that thing was faaaaast. It was going beyond 130MB/s sequential where my F1 750GB is not even hitting 100MB/s...

120-140MB/s on the first half of the disk, iirc. I'm planning on 2x500 in RAID for my OS/games at some point.

I've got two Samsung hard drives, 500 GB in a raid array which I have just taken out of a computer and replaced with a solid-state disk. In the raid array they were getting a read of 274 Mb per second and a write of 230 Mb per second. Very good speeds but they didn't seem to help in the load time.
Possibly I want to much but the solid-state drive seems to have about the same load time.
