To fix it, edit with the notepad the steam.styles file you can find in Steam\resource\styles and change the line

to

    basefontbold="Arial"

Save changes and restart Steam.

I have submitted 14 bug reports and strange problems with Steam. This one was my 14. The others were errors in the friends, community page. Problems with the patterns on the stroke lines are there, as well as other errors with typos.

Yes it says that whoever is in the server is my friend on the far left box in the steam overlay. Very strange, but I have reported it.

I had to stop using the beta. I rely a lot on my in game overlay when playing, but for some reason I lose access to it when playing L4D2 after a few minutes. Have to alt-tab out to see who sends messages, which cannot be done mid game without screwing things up.

Yeah that's presumably from the overlay exe crashing. I've had it a couple times, not every time I start a game though :/

ya you just go back into settings were you switched to the UI update click the box select none and restart steam
