Hd5850 vs. hd5870

I'm very confused, I've dropped my clocks down to below the factory OC to the stock clock speeds and I'm posting a 4000 score vs DTV's 6100. Do any of you have suggestions on what might be going wrong? Could it be old nvidia drivers messing around with this? I'm debating a clean install of my system just to make sure it isn't that.

I came from a gtx280 as i said and I needed to run driver sweeper cause i had the same problem poor performance, there is a post that i did a few weeks back about this and after i did thaT and installed 10.2 scores way up

I just completely reinstalled win 7 64 bit and I'm still getting 4500-4600 on my stock speeds for furmark.

What version of it did you do your tests with dragon?

edit: nvm. I've discovered the issue. You were on v1.7 and I was doing it on v1.8. I feel like an idiot now

heavens benches seem abit low, my 5850 on dx10 had fps-110.6,,,your shows 54 fps
furmark is not to bad.. a little behind... thanx for posting

i did the heavens at 1920X1080. Yours were at a much lower resolution, thus the discrepancy I hope???

i will do 960@1285 abit later , kids up now,,time to make breakfast lol

ok upped o/c to 975@1300@1.235v
and got a very nice increase in dirt2 benchmark, at everything set to ultra
before 960@1285

avg. fps.-61.7
min fps-51.8
now 975@1300@1.237
total frames-6495
avg fps-71.6
min fps-58.9

seems like my 5870 realy turned it on when I hit these clocks,think I found the "sweet spot" for my card!

nice clocks there. Is that all the more you can push the memory up to on it? I'm able to hit 1335-1350 on my 5850 at a lower voltage.

havent tried to go higher yet , I cant see it going much higher though as i dont want to raise the voltage up anymore so ill be happy with this

the 10 fps I got in dirt2 was realy nice I wouldnt doubt it if me switching to 10.3 drivers helped as well , because after I put 10.3 my heavens bench went up as well 3dmark06, so the 10.3 are very good drivers for increased fps,

nice overclock on that card sky. I wish the toxics had voltage ctrl so I could push it a bit harder.
