My PC can handle both Crysis and Crysis Warhead 30-55fps (mid-gamer)

Any other game , this game LAGS for noting , I go out , it EATS more ram than crysis , but it's still 92% sometimes even 97% used.

It's windows 7 64 , so apart from XP , I think Win7 gives a final blow , cause even , I tried Warhead , it LAGS the same and both are unplayable , HDD is very busy all the time. But what is it loading so much , if the 2 GB ram I have is just full , not over the top and these top dominators maybe even have more overload headroom.

It's obviously WIN7 , Crysis was totally fine in XP.

Now , the thing is , is win7 bad , or the game isn't built for win7 properly ? , I'd say the latter , both Crysis are 2007 and 8 games so really pre-win7. But this AVP should be doing better , I'd says i got an temporary old 160 gb sata1 hdd now , so might be a bit slower for win7 but it's not that old , it's still 7200rpm , so the problem's in games , AVP multiplayer and beta was completely fine , without aany lag whatsoever , really was a solid beta i think (but the movement is a bit akward , it's lika a robot , left right up down , you know what i mean , and the movement doesn't have slowdown or acceleration(fade in-out) that's quite noticable too)

Didn't try the MP part yet , but it seems that's not leaky , on the other hand don't pick me with about how 4 GB is a standard now bla bla bla  , I KNOW , but I WON'T buy another 2GB cause I think 2GB are well enough , and the win7 + games should be optimized , not that they full shitload of stuff into the OS and expect me to upgrade so soon , I recently bought these 2 dominator sticks anyways , so im not getting more anytime soon , and I had over a year of problems with cheap crap memory so im not getting this option either , and 3GB is out too , it's not dualchannel :)

The other thread already said about 4 GB didn't help much anyways. Oh forgot , about the SP gameplay, it's 100% unplayable. Progress? first stairs :)

I think I have an idea , oh , about WIN7 "securing" memory for better operations when there's a lot of free memory,(technical name of this?) So this thing releases secured memory when applications need it , AVP was like 1.75 GB private set , whereas Crysis gets 1.2 GB at most (1.4 for WH ,actually uses tons of more polygons)
But what is , this win7 secured memory FILLS Pagefile, and smart win7 tries to keep bacground still functional and that need memory but pagefile load from HDD obviosuly , but this doesn't explain in WH when there is 400 MB free memory and lags the same way.

Clearly there's something with this memory management stuff that games can't disable it for win7 or win7 doesn't recognize them to adapt for low memory usage during games.(same thing)

Is there any WAY ... of totaly disabling this HIGH win7 memory usage , memory management , reserve , and let the game control it.

Then I'll try disabling pagefile , maybe win7 won't use physical memory if pagefile doesn't exist.

I tried ReadyBoost , but I got more trobule with games crashing than actuall memory speed :shadedshu:

What are you talking about? Crysis had memory leaks that were patched
http://www.crysiswarhead.org/crysis-12-patch-released/
Corrected a number of memory leaks with FSAA modes.
Fixed a number of memory leaks with some procedural vegetation and destroyable objects physicalization.

As well as Crysis Warhead which was patched
http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=45328
Fixed several memory leaks
I recall them very well. I've not seen that kind of issue with AvP though.

No raid

Turn off Pagefile. You do this by:
Right Click on My Computer. Click on Advance system settings. Click on Advance Tab. Click on Performance Settings button. Click on the Advance Tab. Clicking on Virtual Memory Change button. UnCheck Automatically manage Paging file size for all drives at the top of the Virtual Memory screen. Instead of clicking on "No Pagefile" select custom size and input: Initial Size 16 and Maximum Size 16 for each hard drive that has a page file. Hit the Set button. Hit Ok Button. Hit Apply Button. Hit Apply Button again (if required). Popup screen will tell you to reboot the PC. Do that at this time. Once you reboot go back to virtual memory and replace the "Custom Size" option with "System Managed". Reboot again. Then retry the game.

Memory management ?

I've seen win7 using and working with 250 MB fine , so I have 2 GB memory , the point of that find is , how do you FORCE it to use only the CORE stuff , no indexing , no superfetc I don't need nothing , I only need low memory usage regardless of how much memory I have installed , I disabled pagefile now , and it's a lot better but the system AS EXPECTED on boot uses about 300 MB more than it was with pagefile ,

Also 1 GB was free and firing up CoD2 returned and "Close programs to prevent information loss" I click cancel but when it loads the game it crashes with weird errors.

So I hunted the problem down , deleted some registry entries about radart.dll , the virtual monitoring service , and will try again , until i have win7 at less than 500 MB total , then i'll try AVP , i will make WIN7 force use less ram like it would have installed less ram , i wanted to make this for a long long time.

It's a known issue with the game itself.

And with the latest patch by Rebellion with Beta Dedicated Servers, alot more issues popped up but well, that's Beta.

Stuttering is a horrible issue for many, but I think I'm one of the lucky ones and don't suffer any problems most yell about on the Steam Forums.

I also have 8 gigs of RAM so that may be helping with the Mem Leak and such.

The game itself I like, but it seems right now the new Dedicated Server Beta patch is really messing with server issues also so I have yet to even bother playing MP still for the time being.

I just keep playing Single Player, and TF2/CSS

NO I cannot start games , COD2 crashes with out of memory error , AVP closes in mid loading -_-

There is 1 GB free physical memory :)

I don't know how to disable WIn7 memory management so it does not consume so much unneeded ram , for the pagefile to work , I'll probably make the RAMDISK for some games who can't work without swap

So if I manage to get WIN7 to use less than 500 MB ram , I can make a minimum of 1.5 GB ramdisk swap on that.

And of course it's the game's issue , I wouldn't be posting this thread here if it weren't.

you didn't turn off page file did you? If you did turn it back on, as many apps/games rely on having it available.

I'm sorry but that advice is awful. You should never turn page file off on a PC as many apps rely on having page file address space available, even on systems with 20+GB of free RAM. You especially don't tell people with under 6-8GB of ram to do it as their PC will start to run like ass very quickly.

Anything on how can I disable Win7 memory management , if possible , so that win7 doesn't load use like 900MB at boot , but something like 400 , So I had installed additional 2GB more for some time , cause bro did yet used them for his new pc was yet to be built, and win7 used like 1.4 GB ram at boot.

Anyway to completely disable this ? Any solution would be greatly appreciated

Same here, Ive been playing the game for a week now, no memory issues and I use Raid0 ( why that would matter)

AVP2K10 is a solid game so far, no issues, crashing ect... Using Win7 64Bit CCC 9.12 latest chipset and IMSM drivers

Well I made a ramdisk of 1 GB , got a pagefile there , and created additional 750 MB pagefile on HDD , cause it was clearly not enoguh, I had to run every game super tweaked down , while whole win7 tweaked and UI and closed most processes , to make it work , 1.1 GB ram usage dropped to 600 MB (32%) :D (that's what I have been looking for all the time)

BUT when it worked , it worked BLATANTLY fast , NO STUPID ALT TAB LAG , no mouse right-click lag , NO AVP LAG ! , but I had to put it to LOW graphics settings , ofcourse 512 MB graphics ram isn't enough so tooks some of main ram, the game was 90% playable @ 1280x1024(low) :)

When I turned on 200 MB additional page file on HDD , the game became way more laggy , most of the testing it was really a ride , i really did this for a lot of time , searching and tweaking , setting , and a lot of failures when the process couldn't be stopped when it ran out of ram and only thing was a reboot , the other funny thing is , when it ran out of ram , there was NO lag at all , the HDD didn't load more stuff , but the game seemd to be stopped , it was not , the memory was being swapped all the time but because memory so fast it's really fascinating to see , and I only have 2 GB and splitting 2 GB of Pagefile on ram , made things a bit fast , the biggest improvement is when you break the point of not having a pagefile on HDD , the size does not matter a lot (200 or 500 MB) but I prefer having more pagefile on ramdisk rather on HDD of course.

Furthermore it's a really great thing , if you run out of memory , it's a stop , reboot , but the OS is still responsible way more than if you ran out of memory with pagefile on HDD , this is what I have been waiting to break for 2 YEARS now , I hate right-click lag and stupid HDD rumbling and laging for so long and unrepsonsive UI ... SO it either works super fast , or not at all , no stupid lag , and when it stops you know it , there is also a bit of lag when it's getting to freeze , like a warning , saving is a good option then. I gladly take the advantages and disadvantages of this setup rather to be bored with laggy stuff , no important data so i don't care about freeze. the OS does not freeze , and possibilty of BSOD are like 20 % (if you close all nonessential stuff you're ok) , i got one BSOD in the whole of about 15 game runs , but only when the drivers and OS related stuff ran out of ram it couldn't function properly.

And I thought RAID0 is gonna make things super fast , I made it for my bro , AMD south bridge aint that good compared to intels but it's quite an improvement , the actuality isn't like very visible but instalations are like 2 times faster , either way pagefile is still a pain in the ... it's the pagefile which hinders the raid0 (sb750 , 2x WDAALS6400 black)

So if anybody wants to play AVP low settings (or has 1 GB GPU can have higher setting) I will make a FULL guide with pics I made for how to make this work on 2 GB ram , well 2 GB is really a minimum , the process is the same , but if you have like 4 GB and mre you won't need additional pagefile on HDD (this is needed to actually play games practically , 2GB ram is way too little )

And the whole point of having pagefile on ramdisk: 60% of games cannot work without the presence of pagefile, by design. Those who can , run out of mem quickly if you have 2gb.

And there wasn't any good tutorial on sites how to make this , I "wasted" like more than 16 hours to figure out the whole procedure.

Atleast i can play AVP now (really special occasion) , but clearly , graphics are more than 512MB even on LOW , then using the pagefile which is slow , so no wonder a 1 GB GPU won't experience any lag.

Same here, Ive been playing the game for a week now, no memory issues and I use Raid0 ( why that would matter)

That'd shut my mouth down :)

Temporary Borrowed 2GB ram from my brother

4GB total

1GB ramdisk pagefile (required by some games)
3GB normal memory

AVP: No Lag
Crysis: No Lag (woot :D)
SC2 beta: No Lag
Windows UI responsiveness: 99%
Alt-Tab speed: 2 seconds max
Level Loading time: Insane (for an old small sata1 hdd)
... etc

AVP lagged , cause it uses 250 MB more memory than Crysis Warhead :twitch:

Crysis: 920 MB free mem
AVP: 746 MB free

I can't wait to test this on bro's pc , just built him raid0 weeks ago , and I ORDERED 2GB RAM , 2 days and they are at my door step.

.... on the other hand don't pick me with about how 4 GB is a standard now bla bla bla  , I KNOW , but I WON'T buy another 2GB cause I think 2GB are well enough

I regret saying that:ohwell:
