Hey all,

First of all i want to start with this - my current card XFX 8800GTX died, not realy died, but get colored lines all over the screen, and cant RMA because warranty ends before month :wtf:

So i dont have much money to spend on new card, but i can afford 5770, so im here to ask if it will be good choice and i will feel very goog performance boost against my old 8800GTX?

Sorry for my english and feel free to consult me in this question :toast:

Chart here shows that the 5770 outguns the GTS250 which is more powerful than the 8800GTX. So, you will receive improvements in your performance, but maybe not as much as you hope. The 5770 is a good piece of hardware priced very competitively, so I have no reason not to recommend it.

im not expecting to get like 2x better perfomance over 8800GTX, i will be very happy if 5770 will give me 1.5x better performance over 8800GTX :toast:

But i have another question, i readed some threads where guys discused about gigabyte problems with 2D settings, so i am afraiding to buy gigabyte product now, because im not sure if i will meet this problem too (im lookng at gigabyte 5770 card to buy), so can someone confirm that there is 2D settings problems with 5770? Sorry for english i hope you all understand what i mean

Well I think a 5770 will be just fine..

I compare it like this My 4830 is about the same as an 8800
My 5750 is almost twice the card...
a 5770 is even better...
so yeah I actually think you will notice a difference and it would be worth your money

big tnx both, but what with those 2d and 3d settings, how much i readed, gigabyte 5800 series have problems with 2d (idle) settings, fan speed is stading at 55% and clocks is not droping down, is that so bad or i dont need to worry about that? Just want to know all information before i buy :toast:

I would stay away from the Gigabyte cards. Find one with the "batmobile" reference cooler on it. I'm using one from XFX and 2d/3d clocks, fan speeds are all great. :toast:

I've been very, very happy with my 5770's - I started out with one that replaced a dead GTX260 and the performance was very similar with dramatically less power.

Since then I've added a second 5770 and now have performance similar to the 5870's.

Very happy with these little cards. They are a great value at ~ 150$

5770 is great. I had the 2nd rev egg cooler and it was excellent and no 2D clock issues.

This sounds like a job for.. SUPER OVEEEENN!
Several users on 8800 gtx's have fixed that very same problem you describe by literally "cooking"
their gpu.
It is known to help reconnect loose connections that tend to cause artifacting like what you see.
We have a thread dedicated to it in these forums.
I believe the procedure was cook at 450 degrees F for 3 hours.
Please verify that before you do it.
But so far I have heard it help like 80% of the people with that problem.
May very well fix it for you.

I still use my 8800gtx, because it is still a kick ass card.
That is a card that stood the test of time IMO.

It is the other way around.
The "batmobile" is the ATi reference cards, Gigabyte cards are bad because they are not "BatMobile"s :p

I have another question, maybe it sounds little bit nooby, but i have THIS motherboard, and how much i know it have PCI-E 1.0 slot, but 5770 is PCI-E 2.0, so is there will be any perfomance drops due to that fact? :wtf:

16x PCI-E 1.0 = 8x PCI-E 2.0

If you have 16x PCI-E 1.0, you are fine, virtually no loss in performance

the 5770 is a very good card but its not gonna seem like a big jump from the 8800GTX, to save some $ you could get a 5750 (I pay about $100 Open box at Newegg). that will play games just fine till you can upgrade to a 5850 (BIG jump from the 8800GTX).

I have both the 5770s and 5750s and the 5750s are surprisingly excellent for $100
