Ubisofts DRM officially a Failure?

We all know it took a longgggg while for AC2 to get cracked. But the newly released settlers 7 has already been cracked by the boys over at Razor1911.

And with Ubi's DRM servers still crapping out every once in awhile this crack is almost worth installing even for legitimate owners of the game.

UPDATE:

Splinter cell is cracked just a few days after release, full crack no server emu.

Yeah I read that legit players couldn't play it for about 2 weeks because of dodgey servers.

I wish it was only 2 weeks, It still happens to this day. You log and and wow, guess what ubi servers are down, so I can't play the game I bought.

Must be times I play, but I haven't had a problem yet with Settlers 7. Play it a bit every day since buying it last week.

It was a failure since the day it was conceptualized. They just didn't have the foresight to see it. If Ubisoft doesn't abandon their draconian DRM, it's pretty obviously they care little what the consumers think.

I wouldn't call it "Officially" a failure, until Ubi "Officially" shoves it up their...oh wait. Their could be children reading.

It's "officially" a failure because no game Ubisoft released with this server-sided nonsense has defined the ability to be broken.

Silent Hunter 5: cracked by Skidrow
Assassin's Creed II: emulated by Dormine, cracked by Skidrow
Settlers 7: cracked by Razor 1911

Ubisoft would never admit it failed or that the cracked version actually works when the retail doesn't. They'll never give an "official" statement beyond saying future releases won't have the saves stored remotely (which I suspect will be coming soon) as they did with Star Force 3 after the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory fiasco (it still won't install to x64 systems).

I played Assassin's Creed II almost all night last night, no problems.

Then I tried to play now, and the damn Ubisoft servers are down. *sigh*

Ubisoft, you fail, soooo hard. At least Assassin's Creed II is fun to play.

Couldn't care less how many superlatives are applied to a given game, I refuse to purchase a game with these levels of DRM. Where the pursuit of the complete suffocation of the second-hand market takes precedent over customer satisfaction, the company will not see my money.

It goes a bit deeper than that for me. It's the entire sentiment around this DRM scheme that completely turns me off. What Ubisoft is saying is that every one of their customers is a potential thief and that they need to constantly look over their shoulders to make sure that they are not stealing the game that they just bought. What ever happened to Innocent Until Proven Guilty? This is more like Guilty By Decree Without Trial.
