I'm having problems with the new UI interfering with some games as well. I wish they would give you a choice of what interface to use.

that mode is arse when you have non steam games like i do, you get these tiny tiny tiny images for them, based on the exe's icon

I like the new steam, much more modern and interesting, it also feels faster as well :toast:

Noticed it yesterday with the different notification area icon and the icons on screen.

Seen a beta of it earlier and dont really like it as my old skin dont work for it.

Much better. Hated the swamp- green layout of the old one. And the chat sound is much better.

It's faster because it's not using IE engine anymore. They are now using WebKit. Which is fast.

I see that WebKit is open source. So, would it be even better if they used the Firefox Gecko engine instead, perhaps? I'm thinking that it's a very popular, fast and web standards compliant engine.

Dunno any specifics, just musing.

if they went something too popular (firefox) they'd have teh same issue as with IE... easy target for hackers since its flaws are well known

Hopefully its just a steam fault and not a fault on my side, that my internet randomly jumps to 340 ping and stays there until i quit playing CSS.

i dont have time to check today if i just got lucky for a round. but i played Crossfire to test and i got my regular ping in there and it didnt boost up.
