Hi,
My first post so hello to you all!
Right then down to busniess... I have recently purchaced an XFX 4890 from a popular auction site that was sold as faulty but working. The card has no problems displaying 2D or 3D but the fan is on 100% Speed constantly from when the computer is first switched on until it is shut down. CCC states that fan speed is xx% when it clearly isn't and manual fixed fan speeds show on the screen as being accepted but still she runs flat out 100% fan speed. ATI tray has the same problem and rivatuner 2.24 wont even open into the low level clocking screens. GPU-Z 0.3.9 shows the card clocking itself from 250Mhz to 850MHz underload but any attempt to alter Gpu clock or memory in CCC are not accepted just as with the fan speed (The overclock isnt shown on GPU-Z just standard clocks). I have checked the pencil mod spot on the card which show the Ohm readings and volts are normal factory standard and the fan pins arn't bridged. I was just going to fix a low noise fan running 100% constantly to the heat shroud and remove the XFX fan altogether but it appears the fault is far more than just a faulty fan. Can any one help me or point me toward what could be the cause???? Help me fix my card and I'll love you forever
