Continuous beep Monitor issues

Hi guys.
My husbands computer is doing a continual beep and the monitor isn't working.
This is how it started.
One day he got up and the screen no longer worked so he took a screen from my office and plugged it in his computer and the screen worked (for about 2 weeks).
He went out to his office one day and the screen wasn't working.. so he put it back in my office and took and old monitor..
The screen he put back in my office is working.
He put the monitor (old huge thing) to his office and plugged it all in, turned on the computer and beep beep beep beep beep beep over and over and over until you turn the computer off.
We replaced the power supply about a year ago.
There is nothing wrong with the monitors/screens themselves.
He always has a lot happening on the computer and often leaves it on over night.. Has 3 externals hooked up to it.
Any ideas what I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

beep codes are a way of telling you that the board is firing, but some piece of hardware (usually CPU, ram, or video) isnt passing the bios testing and is giving you an audible error.

Things that will help diganose....

What motherboard is in the PC, if you cant find it what is the PC if OEM built?
What exatly is the code? Is it a continuous series of short beeps, or is there a different patern?

Sorry Im off to bed, but if I can tell the motherboard, then I can find if it uses AMI or an Award bios. Then from there the beep code should be easy to track down.

I'ma say it has to do with the video card.
Happens to me when my video card doesn't have power hooked up to it.
Only thing I could recommend is replace the video card with a known-good one and try that.

When you say "video card doesn't have power hooked up to it" could the card actually come loose or is it more likely that the card has had it?

Well, I think it could be the card is loose, or isn't recognized (failed could also be used here).
If the video card is a separate component (rather than on-board), just replace it

that fast beep is the video card not seated correctly or, not plugged in, check the power connectors to the video card, and make sure all your power connectors are plugged into everything, if not looked up your motherboard manual for your specific model and check out the beep code in the manual thatll help you tell what it is.

It sounds like your pc has, possibly, memory problems.

Try re-seating the memory sticks. Or, pull the ram and try booting with one stick at a time, to see if the problem goes away or, if you have any extra memory laying around try it.

Check here at Bios Central after you figure out the motherboard makers bios type (AMI, Award, etc.) to be sure of the true nature of the beep codes.:)
