MSI afterburner did not see any VRM with the I2C interface.
Why are you so sure that the card can contol voltage?

Zubasa: you have 5770. i am talking about 5830 from that review.
That pic is from the review you linked.
It is just the early version of GPU-Z used in that review is wrong.
Even so, the card is clearly mark as 5800 series.

Yes. I'm speaking about the actual GPU chip itself not the cards overall. I suppose you need a basic knowledge of how video cards are manufactured. Honestly though, if you are confident the card will be good, go for it. It's strange you are touting the card being great without owning one. I'm all for you getting one to find out. :toast:

erocker: everything looks similar. so what else can be different?

the cooling, the box, everything is the same. maybe except the price which is always expensive over here.

and its not overclocked by default, the guy overclocked with MSI Burner.

erocker: actually that review is the only review that i have seen so far that a 5830 can be overcocked so high on core and gain a large performance boost.

so you never know.

and by the large performance gain over its core, its obvious that 5830 is starved on Core speed and not rops.

I think you need to educate yourself on what ROPs are.

The Graphics Processing Unit is a chip that is soldiered to the PCB of the graphics card. Some GPU's have minor imperfections that have a direct result in how well it overclocks. It's the same for CPU's. That's why you have person 'A' who can overclock thier CPU to 4ghz on a similar system to person 'B' who can only reach 3.8ghz.

erocker: so now dont u think that the 5830 is starved on Core speed?

Um, no. I don't think you are listening or understanding what I'm saying at all. Buy the card, we really don't need to see the reviews on it. Most of us have seen them already. Have fun with your new card. :)

*Once you get it, come on back and I will personally go head to head with you with my card. :toast:

The 5830 has 1.4 times the number of (1120 vs 800)SPs and (56 vs 40) TMU of a 5770.
It is only in average ~10% faster than a 5770 because they have the same number of 16 ROPs, and this is why we say the card is starved on ROPs.

bebee, the 5870 is really meant for Resolutions above 1680, so that means 1920x1200. I'd rather have a 5870/5850 OC Model from powercolor or MSI over a 5830 for the way those cards draw power properly to the performance they make.

i will be upgrading my cpu to a quad core as well. so hopefully i can play crysis 2 on high setting on high res with or without aa or af with a quad core and a heavily clocked 5830.

Sounds awesome! I'm not jealous, I'm rich! I can go and out-buy whatever you have! I'm kidding. We can reopen this thread when the wait is over. :toast:
