the computer is up and running, but I never thought of needing a 56k modemn because of where Sean and his family live(waaaaaaaay out in the booneys). The night we put it together, wouldn't you know it, the batteries in my camera were dead(not my fault, I had it loaned out to a friend that didnt replace them). I will get some pics of the PC to post and once I get Sean online with the computer, he'll be posting a thank you to everyone that helped with the parts.

I have a couple laying around, with in arms length (ok it's actually across the room, but still) if you can't find any heh I can send TWO in case you feel nostalgic and want to try Shotgunning them :laugh:

I'd probably send 3 just to be sure at least one works :eek:

Seeing as I haven't tested them due to the fact they came out of PCs I was given :ohwell:

BTW Barbaric, I'm out in the boonies too and there is no land-line service available; however, we do have SOME cell signal and I have put the Wireless Broadband (WWAN) modem taped to the window which helps with signal (we can't get service inside the house :shadedshu). While WWAN isn't exactly cheap, if he has a cell phone you could get a data plan and then tether to the computer for internet. I know that Verizon charges to have a Tethering Plan, but in all honesty I don't see how they could know you are doing it if you don't use their software

Which is quite easy since you can dial into the network with a WWAN modem if you know the info

There is also a sweet program for Windows Mobile (ver 6+ I believe) phones with WiFi, that turns the phone into a mobile hotspot/WWAN router :rockout:
