NFS: Shift & Analog buttons (throttle control)?

I'm considering getting this game as a Forza 2/3 substitute (I really don't want to buy a 360, digital 5.1 compatible amp, and a HDTV), but I can't stand how there's no throttle control with typical PC controls. After doing some research it seems you can get the pressure sensitive buttons to work on a PS2 DS2 controller with the right drivers. Does anybody know if you can get this (or any other controller with pressure sensitive buttons) to recognize with NFS: Shift or similar racing games?

I asked that same question a while back on this forum, the cheap ps2 style pc pad i was using wouldnt give a variable throttle when playing NFP shift. Was told to get a 360 pad.
Got myself a wired 360 pad & variable throttle now works with NFS shift

Honestly, the PS2 DS2 controller is ok...but spending 20 bucks on a madcatz xbox 360 usb cable controller is the way to go. Then you have to triggers that work very well for racing. I use it for all my racing games including Grid, Dirt 2, Shift, Race 07, etc. Works amazingly well...and with the 360 controller, most new games have a preconfigured control scheme that generally works very well, save time and hassle. Best decision I made controller-wise for me...a wheel might happen someday...but not in a hurry.

$28.54 @ walmart. Pretty good prices on these...I have a genuine 360 controller, lent it out to a friend because I preferred the mad catz triggers and grips. They don't have it on the website, but last time I was in that walmart they had it on for 19.99. Either way, a genuine for $30 is a good deal and a good way to go. Instant driver support, many games natively support the 360 controller...can't go wrong.

I was told that the 360 controller had digital buttons, not analog. I should mention that I prefer to use A & B for gas and brake, not the triggers. If the triggers are my only option, I suppose I could get used to it, but I'd really prefer to use the AB buttons.
