reinstalling episode 2 now I ran through Half Life, Half life2, Episode1 and I'm about to run through Ep2 I totally forgot how great this game was...This is the only game Ive ever replayed beside the Wing Commander games...

I really really hope Ep3 is coming out...I'm so anxious I could piss myself

I can't see a new engine, they've always just updated chunks of it as they put out shit.

It'd be nice if they finally made a move away from stuff like lightmaps though. L4D2 would look way fucking better if all the lighting and shadowing was dynamic. If someone elses flashlight cast shadows and their guns actually illuminated the darkness in some maps? That would add a shitload of immersion imo.

Basically any modern computer runs any Valve game at 239812fps so I dunno why they are so scared to scale it up a little. I'll trade an FPS in the hundreds for a little more immersion. Valve is seriously lagging behind every other big game tech wise. Their games look good and they have good art, but I think if they would just push it a little on the tech front, their stuff could look a million times more impressive.

they tend to release a new engine with every new game (or at least, a heavily updated one) - they've had more than enough time to make a new engine for the new games... i'd like DX11 for HL3 and Portal 2 thx

Mussels is right they try to release a new engine traditionally, they only started doing partial engine updates as they started releasing episodes.

Naw, it's only delayed. I'm sure they'll have something on it for E3, maybe a tech demo of some sorts.

I doubt they're going to announce a third L4D game this soon, but I'm not Silvia Browne.

Sadly, Valves ''surprise'' won't be Episode 3.

Many of the commenters on our story about the cancelation seemed to think this meant we would finally be seeing Half-Life 2: Episode 3, as unlikely as that was, but we now have confirmation from Valve boss Gabe Newell that the surprise is not Episode 3.

Valve staffers are known to occasionally respond to fan emails, and that's exactly what Newell did. In response to an email imploring Valve to unveil Episode 3 next week, Newell simply wrote back, "It isn't ep 3."

I have seen source engine (HL2) even run on a tnt2 m64 (crippled one). Anyway back to topic i cant wait for EP3 and Portal 2. I really love the HL series as a whole only thing i want to be improved is the vehicle physics. I am not looking for a Gran Turismo like experience but a little more realistic vehicle physics wont hurt i guess. It will also make controls on vehicles a little easier too imho.
