You dont need to put a rad in between. Water temp would eventually even out as long as you have a fast pump.. there would be no difference with that setup and a Rad > GPU > GPU > GPU ... the water going in the last GPU would still have enough capacity to absorb the heat from the block.

Exactly the answer I was originally looking for. Thanks! :toast:

just to let you know the phenom 1090T works just fine on the CH2 i tested mine in the board before i sold the CH2 and everything was just fine. as far as you cooling the system like was said before rad-GPU-GPU-GPU is just fine. i would look at a 4x120mm to cool the GPUs.

Might've been covered already, but you absolutely do not want a P55 board. Three PCIE slots drop to 8X8X4 speeds. X58 chipset is a must. I wouldn't even consider an AMD solution either.

Very much. SLI amd boards are crap. The multi GPU scaling is like the previous 780i series (which was broken imo), and they dont OC the proc that well.

The ch2 isn't that bad it has the nf200 chip on it and clocks very well half of the wr oc's I got were on that 780a mobo and with a 1090t the board will be just fine holding up with scaling. There is no reason for him to run out and drop $700-1000 when a $300 cpu will put the build within a couple of fps of the intel.

Dude get a intel 930 or 980X and oc to at least 4.4Ghz. Also a descent mobo, like a Classified b4 u WC, also get a Delta 160CFM in those cards for the time being since that is the nvidia specs

I like how all of the intel people think the crosshair 2 is a shitty mobo funny it was one of the most expensive boards on the market even after the crosshair 3 was released it is a good board with all of the bells and wistles found in a newer intel board. There is no reason this guy should buy a whole new rig all he did was buy video cards yes a cpu upgrade would help but the board can handle a 1090t you know the brand new amd chip with 6 cores that trades blows with i7. I have had this board I have had sli on it it will perform just fine if he puts a 1090t in it there is no reason to buy all new parts its a waste of money.

Waste of money... ehrm he just bought 3x480 together. Does not compute.
Also new mobo would increase looks and e-peen, like a new case like a 800D

...and am wondering what to do about cooling. Currently have everything at stock clock speeds, and stock air cooling, but I've seen the temps on these guys climb up over 80 degrees already. Having them in tri-sli doesn't really give them much breathing room. I plan on going with liquid cooling, but other than my Corsair H50, I'm not very experienced with it. From the info I have gotten, I'm thinking about doing 3 separate loops (1 for each GPU) with a 120.3 rad on each. Is that overkill maybe? Also, if I do go with the three loops, am I going to need a separate pump for each loop, or can I get away with a single good, reliable pump, say something like:

-->RES-->PUMP-->GPU1-->RAD1-->GPU2-->RAD2-->GPU3-->RAD3-->RES

Also, any idea how dangerous it is to be running them with air cooling like they are now? I've been leaving the case cover off, and positioning a fan to blow directly on them for now. Is that a little risky? Here's a picture of my rig atm. It's not finished yet as I'm currently shopping for a new case.

Why is it that people must comment on other people's spending habits ?

It is one thing to argue that the price/performance is not worth the investment, but a whole another matter to post the above response.

Look form my point of view this may have been his big upgrade it was a good one he will def see an improvement in games and a 1090t will push that up a good bit more he doesn't nee d a damn i7 build just to use a few gtx480's the board rubs 16/8/8 just like an x58 would why spend the $200 for that $300 for a cpu and $200 for a tri channel kit of ddr3? He already has the rig setup all he needs now is a good cpu the 1090t is $300 why the hell would you more than double that investment for less than a 5% difference

Cause he can spend $210 to buy my P6T6 WS Revolution and get 16/16/16. X58 stock get 16/16/8, and not 16/8/8. It makes more difference in folding and more difference with each new GPU release.

His problem is solved but I've to answer this. Cdawall gave a pretty good reply but what you said there is very WRONG.

It's the Nvidia chipset "Intel" boards that are CRAP. Not AMD. Take it from Nforce4... and NF200 chip or MCP55 are best chips to SLi on, you don't have anything better. 780a OCs along with some 790X boards out there look for reviews on M4N82 Dlx. That's just wrong.

OK, so new CPU is here, just waiting on the Corsair case which should arrive tomorrow:mad:(UPS guaranteed 3-day my ass:shadedshu). I figure I'll give it a shot with the 1090T, and post some benchmark results first. Depending on what I get, I may opt for just going with an i7 build afterall, but I figure I'll see what AMD has to offer first.

One question though, I know I will need a BIOS update on my crosshair II, but will I be able to do that after installing the 1090T, or will I need the BIOS update before it will work at all?

mine posted without an updated bios but only saw the 1090T as a dual core athlon i would flash it now it takes like 10 seconds using EZFlash in the BIOS

can I suggest you just sell or return one of the GTX 480s? lol

Money IS an object to you, and I doubt you'll have any fun with an extra gtx 480

else, go with i7 920 OCed and Binge's mobo for sure. If you want to even slightly use that 3rd GTX480 that is :p Else just sell the 3rd and you won't really notice the difference except cooler temps

IIRC, Tri-SLI and SLI in general scales much better on an x58 chipset than am2/3

hell with selling that 3rd 480 keep it bro you only get a badass rig once or twice but I would say upgrade from that amd setup bro a nice evga classified will work great and a 930 or hell if you got the cash 950, AND go liquid cooling, get a pa 120.3 for the cpu/chipset and a 120.4 for the 3 gpus, the aquacomputer GTX480 blocks are the best hands down they are the smallest space wise, have the best mounting setup and best flow rates, but make sure you get enough fittings and at least 15ft of tubing otherwise you wont have room for tube measurement mistakes, at least 2 laing D5's/MCP655's and a nice bayres setup, plenty or 45 angle fittings and 90 angle fittings hell even the sli connectors for the water blocks, you wont regret it but first be rid of that amd setup.

can I suggest you just sell or return one of the GTX 480s?

IIRC, Tri-SLI and SLI in general scales much better on an x58 chipset than am2/3

see that one is a yes and no with modded drivers it scales pretty good on 790FX boards vs 980A however that being said some very close to WR runs have been done using 980A and 780A and sli

edit and how about announcing how shitty AMD is we wait until he gets the 1090T in and sees how it does

but now that he has the 1090t, I see no point in upgrading, its not worth the cost... just sell the 3rd gtx480 at less than 50$ loss, you'll save in the watercooling and lose virtually no performance

Unless you find a way to use your 3rd GPU
