How to transfer an entire iTunes library to a new computer??

I just got a new laptop for college next year and I would like to transfer my current iTunes library to which my iPod touch is currently synced to on my home desktop to the new laptop. I can transfer the music fine but in the new library none of my music is organized bc there are allot of song that don’t have title and there are alot of repeats. How can I transfer my entire library so that it is the same as it is on my current computer.

My guess would be to transfer all your music (including the iTunes folder), to your new computer.

However, this only applies if it's Windows to Windows or Mac to Mac. And remember, all files have to be in the same place they were before.

the easiest way is to back up itunes and select every thing, this is what i do for my iPhone

Your Itunes media folder within "My Documents/MyMusic" contains all the itunes stuff.

You have two options...you can use the iTunes backup tool, or you can simply copy the media to a spare HDD, and then after installing iTunes on the new OS, replace the items back within the same folder you got them from.

You don't even realyl need to put them in the same folder though. iTunes+ media will ahve no DRM, so can be played from any location, and media that has DRM will just simply requset you to sign into your iTunes acount before playback.

I keep my meda on a seperate drive, and jsut add teh folder to the ones iTunes monitors, and this works great for me. As I keep my OS on another drive, re-installing the OS, or moving the spare HDD to another machine is fairly pain-free.

Ok what i did was move everything in my music folder including the itunes folder into the music folder on my new computer. this worked to some degree. my itunes library is the same as the old computer but i cant play most of the files it shows the missing short cut icon i can only play files that i got from a cd.

I had my hard drive crash a while back and my iPod contained all of my music, so I used Sharepod to retrieve it all from my iPod. I didn't have to re-rip my non-iTunes purchased library from CD again.
