seems like the best place to go to find an UNLOCKED OCable card is a place like this where they actually find the cards to OC... lol

welp i did some homework and it looks like the way to go for me is.. Radeon x800 series... and just pray to GOD you have one that can unlock its pipes prety easy.

Iam really not planning on changing the bios, i was hoping ATI tool can do the OCing and unlocking pipes for me.

welp.. which cards do you guys recommend me getting for a good chance to OC.

My system is 2800 Barton @ 2.5Ghz
and i'll be attaching my Zalman heatpipe on this with a 80mm tornado blowing on it.

So far iam thinking about buying 1 of these 2:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102065
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102606

which one would be better for OCing?

i'll also accept any recommendations.. i am really looking forward to getting this thing back up and running, i accidently broke the 9800 pro from taking off a VGA silencer and putting on the Zalman heatpipe.

the x850 line is 256mb and 256bit...the x800 256mb 128bit...go with the x850 line...the x850pro can be modded in most cases to the x850xt or xtpe with the full 16pipes....clocks range from 540-590core and 600-660memory..great cards for the money.....:rockout:

EDIT:: oh and welcome to TPU....if you go with either card let us know we can help you unlock your xtra pipes.....and overclock it too.....

I would definitely choose the X850PRO VIVO AGP because it probably will unlock to 16 pipes but even with 12 pipes it's R481 could be clocked much higher than the GTO's R430 core. Only in case that the X800GTO comes with R480 which is possible (but the probability is very low - 1% or lower) would be reasonable to choose that card baut you wouldn't know.
Buy the X850PRO and return here with the fuse values in order to help you to unlock and to restore it to the oiginal X850XT or PE.

if you wanna unlock pipelines you´ll have to...

really? thats really going to hurt on my half. i never flashed any bios before in my life.... i guess i'll have to do more researching...

so which one would you recommend me getting? because both of those cards are on the same lines of the same price..... and the core speed isn't told on the second link.

I bought the 850 pro and it is nice, i replaced my 9600 xt. I unlocked the extra 4 pipes on the card with the bios that dolf sent. You probably wont want to overclock it though just yet unless you install a new gpu cooler. Compared to the other you may not want to modify it at all but it was really easy.If a moron like myself can do it. I figure anyone can. Just pm dolf with your atitool fuse data as everyone says. He was really helpful as are a good number of people here. Well just my two cents.
