which would you get:

a GTX260-216 with a warranty from the MFG or
a GTX275 that's out of warranty?

both cost the same. i've used a GTX260-216 but not a GTX275

Is the extra performance worth not having a warranty? Thanks

If they both cost the same, then i say pick up the GTX 275. As long as your not pushing uber heavy overclocks on it or doing anything else to it that could potentially damage the card, i see no problem in picking up the more powerful 275.

vey important, what verion pcb?? if the older pcb the 275 is DEF worth it, if its the newer pcb then they have much weaker mosfest and they tend to blow up therefore a warranty would be worth it

Also important. What brand? Factory OC'd? I would not recommend buying any MSI OC'd 2xx series cards.

The 275 is a little faster but there is not a vast difference, I think in most games at stock 5-10%, personally i would prob go for the 260, I actually liked mine better than my 275 and the 260 I had overclocked a bit better too by about 30mhz which made up some of the difference.

You could take the GTX 260 and OC it. You would get near GTX 275 performance. It also depends if the cards or Factory OC'd and or and not reference design.

I don't know if the 260 you're lookin' at is new or not, but if it is, don't buy it without realizing for $60 more today you can get a brand new 465 Fermi.

True maybe the GTX460 could be a nice card. If you are not in a hurry, I would say wait a little bit.

Sorry, but I should have also mentioned that you will want the 1GB version, not the "crippled" (IMHO) 768MB version.

True but the 460 will be slower than both these cards listed and dx11 is almost irrelevant. Heck the 275 gtx can match a 465 no problem when oced and surpass it. The 465 has been lacking in the texture unit department that kills performance. Also 60.00 is 60 dollars. Also some 260 gtx's can be had for as low as 125.00 and 275 gtx in the 170.00 range.

Well, like I'd said, "if the 260 you're talking about is new.". You're not going to find a new one for $125 unless it's hot.
As for the 465 (I didn't say 460), I didn't know it was slower in DX10 than a 260 or 275. Interesting.

I know you didn't say 460 I added that but if you look a 275 gtx /285 gtx runs neck and neck with a 465 gtx and at higher resolution in some cases are faster. This would be an example http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_465_Twin_Frozr_II/12.html. In some others the 465gtx wins but only by a (few frames) and if you can get a 275 gtx for 60.00 less or more I would. Even saying this a 465 gtx is still not a bad buy and when oced takes off a bit more.

I understand what you're sayin'. After reading your comments I went and did some further researching and now I can safely say "forget the gtx 465." 470 or better! If I can't find a gtx 295 for sale, I'll either upgrade my own system with 2 or more 480 Fermis or wait for a dual 480 card. A 470 is better than the 275 and a 260-216, but it can't be had for the sum either of those would sell for today. Always get a warranty if you plan to OC.

GTX470/ Radeon 5850. GTX260/275 are getting rarer and rarer because NV has switched to GTX 4 series chip production.

Okay if you could find this card or the asus card with voltage control I take back what I said oced to the max the 465 looks like a little beast. Oced it matchs a 5870 wow in some games!!!!
