maybe its just me but I dont see a difference really in those metro shots. well maybe a tiny bit but not enough to justify spending $400 on a gpu for.

My sentiments exactly. Then again, I can't take a dude seriously who can't be bothered with punctuation.

When a literate is in Grammar Nazi mode, they are usually found correcting all sorts of typos & grammar and/or punctuation errors.
She was being a Grammar Nazi, correcting each & everyone one of his mistakes. = - period

I do not think DX 10 cards will be irrelevant any time soon. As long as Consoles rule the gaming world. As of right now we are still going to see games made in DX9 for quite awhile because of the Consoles.

The only way that DX9 and DX10 cards will become irrelevant anytime soon is in terms of the power games take.

Meaning you can run a high end DX9 game like Batman or COD Modern Warfare 2 better on a 5870 or a GTX 480 then you can on a GTX 280 or a 4870.

But unless you want those extra FPS (For 3d or a 120 hz monitor) I don't see it happening until Consoles upgrade their Graphics standard.

The point of time we are in right now (For the most part) is waiting for Software to be able to catch up with Hardware.

Now with that said there is still some merits to getting these more powerful newest generation video cards.

For instance you don't need 2 or 3 video cards to reach your desired frame rates. So you will be saving power consumption. Especially with the 40nm Cards that are out.

You also will be getting less Heat inside your case then from previous generations.

But in reality we haven't even begun to see the full force of what DX10 and DX11 can do. By then the DX10 and new DX11 cards that are out right now.... will all be irrelevant.

So I think your advice is pretty sound. I would say those DX10 cards will probably be irrelevant for modern gaming in about 2 to 3 years. So they should be good to go with buying a new 4890 or a GTX 285 for quite awhile.

For now I just don't see it as something to be concerned about. Tessellation is certainly a nice feature, but it's not a fundamental game-changer that requires an immediate upgrade. As long as you're getting adequate performance right now, save your pennies. You're not going to wake up one day and suddenly find yourself obsolete--there will be plenty of warning before the Next Big Thing(tm) hits the shelves.

I don't think I will be getting a Direct X11 capable Video Card soon. I should just wait 2-3 months until the 2nd generation of ATI cards come out and these current ones will be much cheaper. I think the 5670 is a good video card if you want something that can play many or most games or if you want a card that doesn't use a lot of power. There are some games such as Metro 2033 that even with something like 5750 or 5770 can have problems if you try to play game at max settings. I know Crysis Warhead is another game that forces you to get a good video card or end up having to tone down the settings. Currently its much better to get a Direct X10 video card since they are much cheaper and you get a good one that can perform as good as many newer video cards.
