Overclocking help

Hey guys ,

I have overclocked my Phenom II x4 955 BE to 3.5 ghz without raising the voltage ( cos i dunno how to do that ) . I jus increased my multiplied to 17.5 in my BIOS and FSB is Default ie 200 . Also i have oc'd my ATI 5850 to 775 core and 1125 memory clocks .

I have a tagan stonerock 500w PSU
Just wanted to ask u guys if i can overclock my cpu or atleast the GPU more on my current psu ?

thing is, do you do anything that you really need a higher OC for. My system isn't that much more than your system performance wise. Quite honestly, I have a mild OC on my CPU and no OC on my 5870, and my system runs every game I play at max setting. Sure, it's nice to know what kind of OC your system is capable of, but if you don't need the extra power yet, why do it(talking about keeping the system OC'ed)

Its not that i need it mate but why not overclock it to the limits wen i have a black edition processor and the hardware is gonna be old in the coming years ?
its gonna be time to upgrade then init
And im a FPS hungry human , the more i get the better lol even if its a minor increase
thats the reason i wana OC

I can understand that. But when your system should be able to match mine, and I stay over 80 FPS playing BF/BC2 @ 1920*1200 resolution, all setting set to maximum, what's the point of putting the extra wear and tear from the increased heat and voltages? I'm not saying not to OC, free performance upgrades is free performance upgrades, but what's the point if your not seeing any benefits?

Assuming that benchmarking is not akin to locker-room size comparisons and that this is not important to you, he is entirely correct.
