Excuse my ignorance, but I can't find the number of pipelines this cards have, do they have 16 or 12 pipelines enabled?

eVGA, it has a normal VGA port and better heatsink, which covers ram.

And the 6800 have 12 pipes.

ah yeah, good call. tons of more heatsinks around the fan.
why is it better that it has vga out? the xfx has a converter, isnt it the same?
and yeah, they have 12/5 pipes, but they can be unlocked to 16/6

Yup, 6800 comes with 12pipelines. With a little luck, you may enable the other 4 pipelines to make it 16. Its got a strong competitor being the X800 256mb. :)

oky, 6800 has 12/5 ... & 6800le has 8/?

what's the difference between 6800le & 6600gt

where is 6800le better?!

6800le doesn't have gddr3, has slower core/memory speed ... the only thing is 256-bit <-- where does this make any difference with 6800le?

& 6600gt has pipes: 8/? the same as 6800le?

6600gt is cheaper as 6800le; so why would it be good 2 buy 6800le?

the 6600gt is faster than the 6800le even a le with 16/6 pipes is slower than an 6600gt but an 6600gt sli system is not faster than a single 6800gt

well yea, i know that 6600gt sucks

they show as all kind of tests, but they NEVER use AA or AF ...

but playing without AA ... it sucks!

& if you have on 6600gt AA on - very very poor

& i know that when i'll be buying new card i'll be looking the test that very made with AA on!
(i see the difference with AA on/off when playing NFS 8)

6600gt's run on 128bit bus, while the all 6800's run on 256bit.
also, don't know why you would get a 6800le, since the prices are just as much as getting a 6800 normal.

aaam you can have 4 AA in NFS 8 ...

anyway - i don't have LCD, but i'm thinking of buying in a year -> so with 17'' you have 1280*1024 & you CAN'T really change it.
so i don't believe NFS 8 would work good on 1280 ... so what about other games (Farcry, Quake, Vietcong ...) - you can't play it with AA on ;)

6600gt is still the same as 9800xt - you can play this new games on 800*600 with everything 'very high' ... but on 1024 it's not that smooth anymore

i think, that the first GPU, that makes a difference is x800xl (maybe ever 6800 & x800)

FSAA can't work properly with effects such as motion blur and other post effects, hence lower fps, just turn off fsaa and play with higher res, download the latest patch too.
Right now I am stuck trying to get HL2 to work with 4x Fsaa @ 1280x1024

I haven't changed any of it and it is the same core as the ultra so it should have 16 p, with 6 verts.
The thing is bloody hot though. 60 while gaming with upto 75 while gaming for core temps.
Thats with the arctic silencer, before it was worse reaching 90 C under load.

But your not gonnign to notice that big a difference, if you get a 9800xt you might be lucky enough to oc higher than the 6600gt since the 66gt runs at 50 for the core when I checked it. Don't know the temp for the 9800 though

Nice, didn't see that. But it really comes down to price and what you would want todo with it.
In all honesty I would wait for the new ati r520 stuff to come out since it can't be long if valve are going to release an update that uses SM3, a feature none of the ati cards have atm.

:D the r520 will be expensive and i think take one of the last highend atm cards when the new ones come a x800xt or a x850xt or pro will be there for i think at least 1.5 years so dont take now an old fashioned card

The XL with 512mb is out but at the price of a 850 xt I think. But it does not give that big a performance boost according to the review. So I guess the next ati card would have a even more powerful card. Has Nvidia have anything waiting to be unleashed?
I know the 512mb version of the ultra is coming and it claims a 40% boost at high settings in benchmarks.

wtf? twice as much as XL 256MB? i don't really think that's true. - if it is ... don't buy it ;)

G70

Nvidia will unveil its next-generation flagship chip, the SLI-supporting G70 graphics chip, at the Computex Taipei 2005 show from May 31 to June 4, according to motherboard makers in Taiwan.

Market sources indicated that the Nvidia G70 should deliver twice the performance of the current flagship series, the GeForce 6800. The chips will be built using a 0.11-micron process at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), as opposed to ATI’s R520 chip, which will be manufactured using a 90nm process, the sources suggested.

40 %?!?! just because of this extra 256 MB?! i don't believe that's true either :p

Ati won't sell those cards, they'll only sell the 512MBs X800XL, at about $150 more than the 256MBs version.
In almost every test, the performance differnce between both versions (256MBs vs 512MBs) isn't significant at all, except for HL2 which seems to like having more video ram available.
IMO, there's no sense in getting any 512MBs videocard with the current GPUs, as you won't be seeing any improvement with current or future games anyway, it's better to wait till next gen GPUs become available and games start demanding more memory.
