I purchased a Galaxy GT240 from ebay. I was wanting to know if the Galaxy version has a loud fan on it or not. I have read many reviews on Newegg. Many of the reviews say its loud. The Galaxy GT240 runs at 25% during idle but the fan still ends up being loud. Is there much difference between the different GT240 models. if I had a GT240 from a different manufacturer would it be any louder. This isn't a big issue with my video card but I haven't seen any reviews on the Galaxy GT240 where they actually mention the noise level from the fan on the video card.

I own that card and the fan is silent. You have a bad fan.

I haven't received the card yet. I was just wondering if the fan on the Galaxy GT240 would be a little problem or not. I noticed not all but some of the reviews on Newegg mention that the fan was noisy on their Galaxy GT240 video card. I currently use a 8600GT. I don't what model it is but do notice fan noise. It isn't very loud at all so it isn't a big problem. The only time I had problems is when in Southern California we have a heat wave. If we were having some 100+ degree days then it usually gets up to at least 80-82 degrees. There would be times where after a couple of hours the fans inside the computer would be blowing really loud. That's the only time I ever had a problem. I was just hoping the Galaxy GT240 video card wouldn't be any nosier than the card i'm currently using.

you could just buy a aftermarket fan for it.

but do you have the Razor, the Low Profile or the Standard(big fan) version of the card.

I purchased a GT240 Galaxy Video card. I found a seller on ebay who had a Galaxy GT240 they used for 2 weeks but didn't really need it. I ended up getting the video card for $42.50 including shipping. I didn't really care the card was only a DDR3 version because I thought I was getting a good price on the video card. It's not the razor or low profile model. It's the standard Galaxy GT240. The only thing I don't know is there are 2 versions Galaxy makes of the GT240 DDR3 version. One Galaxy GT240 has a memory clock of 900MHZ and another has a memory clock of 666MHZ. I'm probably getting the standard DDR3 model with 900MHZ.
