well, that´s good news! :rockout:

how much do you score in 3DM05 now? or does it still make your comp crash??

:toast:

P.S. did my bootimage work for you?

Running it now while i pop off to post office...

Fingers crossed it'll be fine, if not, i'm sure the silencer will sort it out...

cheers for the support p-jack

P.S. errrr, no boot image didnt work :( but i was probs just being noob!

Haha, 5472 3dmarks, My X1600 duel core laptop scores 5514 3dmarks in 3Dmark05 and plays CoD2 at max with 4xAA and runs great (too bad I had to suffer with getting CoD3 for my X360 :( ) So yes, you really shouldnt have gotten a GTO anything... I've used em in the past, and I'm not a fan.

I prefer ATI, but If it's CoD2 that you play alot, I think you would be most happy with either an X1900/X1950, or anything over a 7600GT. In my experiences, Nvidia cards seem to run much better than ATI cards in CoD2. But ATI seems to win in everything else so..

Well, cant really argue - check out my specs and say they weren't worth it for £440 (i got an extra stick of ram but thats all) everything u see there is inclusive of the price ;)

Mwhahahaha! And anyhoo, laptop or not - its dual core with a better GPU, and due to the nature of laptops having natural compatibility and designed for maximum performance with little modding, ur gonna get the top out of it whatever!

Cheers for the comparison tho

hmm, ~5500 isn´t that bad, but it´s also not breathtaking either... at which clocks did you run it? shutting down background programs will also improve the score a little bit...

I think you would be most happy with either an X1900/X1950, or anything over a 7600GT.

of course we can´t really compete with those cards, they´re one gen ahead + will score like 10000-12000 in 3DM05... only thing to do is cranking up clock speeds :rockout:

for comparison, i run mine at 520/540/16p, cpu running at 2.4, getting like 6400... my highest score ever achieved (gfx @ 582/582, cpu @ 2.75) is 7128... :pimp:

btw, have fun with your beautiful new cooler! i believe it´ll help your clock speeds quite a bit...

Yeah still runnin the X800GTO at 438/550 - havent upped to 850XT or PE yet... gotta go back to work soon tho! SHIT!

In a week i'm gettin H20, will OC processor to 4.6, upp card to PE, have the bloody paste for the cooler and hopefully get closer to that 7128! ;)

Some company called gsquared (uk based comp) - incredibly quick delivery. I got it just before they upped the price. it was £9 plus vat... not bad 'eh? Spose they screwed me over on the old paste tho...

Just checked my nearest Comp supplier www.novatech.co.uk but they haven't got any paste in :( not a fun day for the team...

Anyhoo... just won on CoD2 again so all is not lost!:rockout:

:EDIT: ahahahahaha! my meeting at 3 has been cancelled! AWESOME! lets get to flashing that bios to PE!

Ok, just installed the cooler...

Ran ATI Tool...

OD'ed to 443/540...

Idle it runs at 28*C (used to be around 38) and under load it runs at 45*C tops. (Used to be nearer 60!)

Gonna flash to XT PE later today...

temps look nice... 443 is the max. your core will do? if so i wouldn´t suggest flashing to X850XT (or even XT PE) since that would equal at least 520 core clock...

Dude u seriously gotta relax... i'm a busy guy and can only work on this in my spare time - doin as much as I can... and seein as I haven't done this before and am only getting started it's gonna take me a while to learn everything... seriously.... just chill...

I opened up the last 4 pipes - see previous post...

and regarding not giving u the max core / mem - u should actually read the previous posts... (page 2 i think)

I have just run ATITool again with 16 pipes:

Mac Core: 438
Max Mem: 558

So yeah, less than 12 pipes but:

12 Pipes 3DMark06 Score: 1593
16 Pipes 3DMark06 Score: 2010

So, a good result after all...

I'm just going to pick up the ATi silencer now and should have it attached in a lil while...

Will then OC again, see what levels i can get it too.

AND AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE - I WANT TO SHOW U GUYS THE RESULTS - so just fricking chill and they'll come.

As a GOOD WILL gesture from my side I have taken the morning off work to play around with my comp!!! ;) Win-win scenario!

Once again, cheers :toast:

P.S. I looked into it and the bonus of the Fireblade (the card I have) is that it can obtain Mem speeds that are above normal (540 and above) - and as u saw with 12 pipes i managed nearly 600 Mem first OC

Look you reqiured to "beef your card up" and I am trying to help you. Don't think that you are the only busy guy because some of us also have to work :) . Sorry but that thread is so "productive" and I can't follow all the news.

OK let continue in constructive way - Fireblade usually are equiped with R430 (unfortunately) but with R480 BIOS and the only way to determine which exactly core you have is to test for max. core overclock (or to see the core with your own eyes). With R430 you can't expect something spectacular in meaning performance. The opening to 16 pipes is very nice "upgrade" but few MHz more on the core and using the real potential of the 1.6ns memory (600MHz) is even better.

END of the story ;)

Hmmmm... cleaned the GPU to a sexy mirror shine... installed the Silencer..... how can i get rid of them damn artifacts?:wtf:

So i guess if ur core clock can't get near the core expected of an X850XT you shouldn't flash to an XT (or PE - whatever) Why is this tho? The technical reasons, I mean... will it try and pass too many commands thru the GPU than what it can really handle?

My core sits at around 438 Overclocked. Does this mean i'm running the R430? dolf, would you advise flashing to X850XT?? or not?

no on the x850xt flash, your core can't take those clocks. XT core runs at 520, XT/PE at 540, and that's on the r480/481 chip - you have the r430

you'll have to be happy with the 16 open pipes and whatever OC you can get

If I remember correctly, the x800GTO2 uses the r480 or 481 core, and folks are flashing it to x850xt/pe speeds

With R430 it is useless to flash to X850XT (you can flash it and your card should be recognized like X850XT with Overdrive tab but the BIOS should be customized) but the core can't even reach speeds close to 500MHz.

438MHz is rather good result for R430. Just find stable speed for the memory and prepare custom BIOS with 420/560MHz for instance (the core should be OK at 420MHz but not more). The memory should be set 10-15MHz less that the max. found with ATITool.

if i put a nice cooler on the core and some memory heatsinks will i be able to get to x850xt?
i also got a r430/16p

For the memory probably you will but the R430 core can't reach X850XT/PE speeds even with good cooling. Probably with voltmod and liquid or LN it could but I will not risk it.

if i put a nice cooler on the core and some memory heatsinks will i be able to get to x850xt?
i also got a r430/16p

I've just installed an ATi Silencer 5, runs idle at 23*C and around 47*C under load. Even at these temps core doesnt go above 440...

Next on the agenda - memory cooling + CPU water cooling... then when february comes new mobo and Crossfire or SLi dual GPU.... once thats all set up think it'll be time for a Dual Core CPU... (!)...

Cheers for the support guys...

as already said, it´s not temperature-related that your core won´t go any further, it simply cant´t handle those high clock speeds.... but hey, with 16p enabled the card is still pretty good for what you paid for it, isn´t it? :)

let me again throw in my 2 cents...

watercooling == :rockout: :rockout: :rockout: (if well set up....)

memory cooling == :shadedshu completely useless imo, mem modules do not get that hot except when EXTREMELY overclocked...
