Well it sounds like you should look into the Archos line, and if you don't like, get a Zune HD.

Do you have to use Zune software? I have a 16gb MicroSD card on my Phone, I plug it into my computer via USB and it shows like a regular disk. No software necessary.

No I dont have to use it, I put music on my Fuze the same way (or just plug the phone in via USB).

Just been preparing myself to become familiar with the software while I wait for my Win7 Phone.

All the selection options (artist, album, etc.) are in an easy to use list in iTunes if you want. No need to scroll the entire library.

Dont have a 360 anymore nor would I be interested in a Zune Pass. Most of the music I like came out 30+ years ago and I still enjoy it. I havnt paid for a CD/download since 2001. Personally I think it's such a scam.


I'm really interested at the Archos line, even a small portable 5" screen for decent video playback(size wise) is appealing. I'm not even going to try watching Futurama on my crappy G1, it's 3" screen is just too small.

At any rate, if apps and surfing aren't really a concern, and you don't have or plan to get anything (like a car stereo) with iPod connectivity, check out some Cowon players as well. Lots of format support.

Zune HD. I have a 32GB and love the thing. Video's on it look great, the sound is awesome, and the interface is really easy to use. I had a Zen and people couldn't figure out how to use it. People can figure out my Zune in about 10 seconds.

I also removed my iTunes and now only use the Zune software as my music playing software. I like how it is organized better.

COWON has been known for their Design and Features (Audio Format and Vidoe Codec support, UCI "User Created Interface", BBE Enhancement). i have a S9 and man the AMOLED screen is so great! so are all the UCIs
