strange wow support emails

I am receving strange emails from World of warcraft support, but i dont have account on wow so this is probably scam >>

i call BS any support that i have ever needed for anygame was handled through e-mail and no account info other than my USN was ever needed. It looks legit but id ignore it since you dont play wow and even if you did the last thing id do is sign into a site following a link from a "support" email

Obviously its a scam. I get them occasionly as well. No need to even give it a thought.

in outlook when i mouseover the link i get a tooltip with the real url:

clearly not a blizzard domain. when in doubt take no action, go manually to the wow account management site or call blizzard

i get them all the time...I just mark them as phishing scam in Hotmail. i dont really want in the Beta anyways, I'd rather just wait for the game to be released in retail.

Don't respond. They are scams. Official Blizzard e-mails will be obvious. If they ever ask for passwords and shit, it's spam. I have like 400 of these e-mails in my mailbox after a month. Just delete them.

Edit: I talked to a Blizzard Support technician and they said that anytime they are going to close/suspend/ban you're account, they will do it first then send you an e-mail once it's done. So if the e-mail seems legit, but says anything about your account being closed in the future, ignore it.

yea that's the scam one's i get about 15 a day and it sucks that you can't block th address they come by, would think email service would have that, and im not talking about a spam folder because even tho it goes to spam you still have to delete, it all should be auto deleted

Regardless, even if you get a legit email from Blizzard it's good security practice to manually enter the URL to their website and investigate. My spam folder is full of Blizzard and MMO related emails, some real, most not. I go to the official website to check on my account status without clicking any links.

I always copy the links in strange e-mails and run them through whois and call the person with a blocked number for the lulz. Or sign the admin up for alot of free shit and gay porn.

I also don't play WoW and get similar e-mails and just ignore them, I guess it's quite a good idea, if they send that e-mail out to millions of random email addresses they are bound to get some return on it, after all it's the most played online game ever.

cause they don't show you the real url - you only see the legit one as it was the text of the message, and that is what was copied. the url it ACTUALLY sends you to is not a legit Bliz page.

I like that. When I get these e-mails I usually reply with LOTS of verbal abuse. Think I'll be using your idea now!

if you reply they quickly put your email on a "working address, human there, reads spam" list and sell it off to all the other spammers for extra dollars.

if you want to do something, look up the domain whois or AS (google: AS lookup) and contact the abuse department of where they are hosted

While that's a funny thing to do , they also check validity of your email , if you respond your email is more and more valuable and sold to many more botnets , ...

I get fake WOW emails pretty much every other day. And i don't even play WOW. lol
