Hi guys.... im gonna trade my sapphire HD5850 for a ASUS HD5870 (30$ damage muhaha)
anyways... i wanna know if that HD5870 can quietly give me 1GHZ\1.25GHZ clocks on a decent voltage, something like 1.28V or less.
my PSU will be the Seasonic S12D 750W.

I would still go with a reference card if possible. It's up to you.

What do you mean the reference card is meh? They generally have better RAM, better overclocking on stock voltage, better overclocking with with adding voltage and the coolers work well. Please don't judge them by what the cooler looks like... GTX 470 isn't a bad option.

My 2x GTX 470's are great.:)

I definitely recommend the 470's if you're looking for a great card.

Dont think the HD5870 V2 is bad. I got 2 of em in Crossfire and they are awesome. Cooler then the reference design en far more quiet. Havent overclocked them, probably wont do it anyway cuz they are fast enough.

With your system, you should be able to run any combination of cards without a bottleneck.

I suggest a single HD5870 or GTX470. Would probably be handy if we know on what kinda budget your on? Both the before mentioned cards perform heavenly, but if your budget allows you should look into the HD5970 or GTX480.

I'd say the HD5870. But you cant go wrong either way. HD5870 is a little bit faster stock, but runs cooler and uses less power.

The GTX470 however gets things like PhysX, 3D vision and smexy Cuda Cores :p

Or you could wait for the 6 series which should be out in a couple months.

Well, you have no reason to upgrade to a 5870 then. Unless you actually need PhysX, want to fold or use some sort of CUDA applications, going to a GTX 470 is a side-grade. Wait a month for the new cards otherwise you are wasting your money.
