Today I put the finishing touches on my new machine, fired her up and finally got her going.
Some hours later after all the Win 7 updating and installing the 10.9 ati drivers I finally got to load up World of Tanks on the new machine. Considering I was going from 4 gigs of ram, 3.0 quad and a GTX 275 to 8 gigs of faster DDR3 ram, 3.4 quad and a 5850 I was expecting some major improvements.
My GTX 275's min FPS never went under 35, the 5850 went as low a 7 on the same settings -.<;; Then of course, i saw something I haven't seen since my old crt 7 years ago : lines and flickering...
so i think the EAH5850 I got from newegg is bad.
OR
I have the latest drivers, IE the ones that were released yesterday, is there a known problem with those?
Another note, after exiting out of WoT i decided to push the card a bit and see what happens... Fired up furmark, set it to stress testing and my max resolution 1650x1050) and about 30 seconds in at about 143 fps / 63 celc the screen abnormalities got so bad I deiced to shut down the machine (was flickering blues, greens, 4 windows, the whole nine yards)
I'm thinking I'm gona RMA the card, as I just bought it last week -.-
