Rally fan here, but I must say I play any driving simulator that hits the shelves (as long as my computer can run it :laugh:

).
This one seems very well programmed especially the attention given to the handling characteristics of the cars and they emphasize that, which turns out the be the flaw in other racing games. Race Driver 3 managed it well tough.

While pounding around Sepang during qualifying, ignoring the cries of our Lotus' strangled sounding engine and the pit crew telling us to stop overheating the engine, we ourselves experienced criticism from haters. "It looks boring," they grumbled. "I can't see any other cars," they whined. "It looks too difficult," they griped.

My response to these guys is always: "Then go play Mario Kart and leave driving for the adults!". Sometimes obvious troll becomes very obvious in this matter.

Though i am one of the people who finds these kinds of games dull, due to me not being a huge racing sim fan. Im a fan of the mindless, crazy, fast type of racing games, Burnout, Motorstorm etc.

It looks really good. But years pass and there isn't a proper F1 game with tracks and cars from the 50s, 60s, 70s ,80s, 90s, etc.

It would be awesome to drive the Lotus 79 or a tyrrel p34 in a 70s nurburgring race :rockout:

Have you had a look into the Thrustmaster wheels?
They're not G25/27 caliber, but have interesting features, for the price...

I have the logitech driving force gt pro. I bought it from an online dealer for a little over $100. Its $170 at bestbuy and such.

Stay away from Thrustmaster every single one died and there even worse these day as they do not use the screw on shift nut. The last one i got the gear paddle broke on it and wheel is getting loose with no way of fixing it.

If i was going get back in to them again i would try the logitech ones out due to their good warranty response and service. Although i am not going to due to cost as really you need to spend $150+ at the very least.

Supposidly fanatec makes amazing wheels, but theyre expensive. You're looking at $300+ plus for a wheel, pedals and shifter.

This looks promising, I hope they have given a good sense of speed in these F1 cars.

so far the best game that gives a real sense of the speed you are doing (always in cabin view) is NFS Shift, but that pales in comparison to watching F1 when they show helmet cam, the speed is just mindblowing.

if they can accurately simulate that, and how amazingly fast and twichy F1 cars are, I'm sold.

LOL. haha yes. I would like a fanantec down the road. I use the logitech dfgt and its honestly a really good wheel. It has sequential shiftin and buttons for paddles. The pedals are alright. the force feedback is really good on it, as is the feel of the wheel.

Dont like the video demo of F1. It looks boring. Perspective is wrong. Car wheels too close together. And what is it with all these ferris wheels? Blimps and balloons? And the shadowing of the cars is horrible too. If it wasnt for the music and the constantly cross-switching of the various speakers/presenters then it would be a dull video trailer too.

Something is missing.

The best F1 game ever, IMO was Geoff Crammond's 1984 Revs. OK, completely out of date now. But at the time it was groundbreaking. I just don't feel that the F1 2010.

The game is not Simulation !!! It is not meant for steering wheel. Don`t get me wrong it is perfectly drivable but does not offer any advantages over gamepad. Where real simulations like rfactor f1 mod Steering Wheel is a must. I have disabled every help in game and still is too easy to drive.
The game is great specially the career but as I said it is not for simulations fans.

I agree 100%. Even with it all off, I have a hard time trying to make the car spin out. 1500HP feels VERY different.
