Hi people, I have a laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 310M graphics card.

Well, the problem is that PhysX and OpenCL are disabled. I search and according to what I saw, 310M doesn't support PhysX, but OpenCL it supports. I am using the last driver 258.96.

I think it is a good card, but PhysX doesn't support because of the number of cores. But my doubt is about the OpenCL.

Minimum Sp's for physx is 32, so you missed out there, and I think OpenCL may only be for 400 series GPU's but I could be mistaken.

Thanks, I understand, I have another doubt, is about driver. The laptop came with 189.11 driver, I update it, and now the version is 258.96. In your opinion I make something wrong (Its better the driver that came with the notebook) or for you what I did was good (update my drivers for the latest version). In your opinion what I make its better or worst, I read in NVIDIA site, but I want to have a confirmation. The newest driver is 100% compatible with 310M yes?

I got OpenCL on my GTX260. I think I remember seeing it on my 8800GTS 512 and 384MB 9600GSO too.

About the driver doubt, you think I made sinething good, I should back to 189.11 or stay with the 258.96, the 258.96 is 100% compatible with the 310M (Just to confirmate) etc?

Go to nVidia's web site, and use the drop down boxes and select your card. Download that, uninstall all video drivers on your laptop, then install those.

I made it. I uninstall all, I go to "Programs and Features" and uninstall all the NVIDIA drivers, then I run the 258.96 installer and install all the features of the 258.96 version. My doubt is if the 258.96 update was a good think in your opinion or not. I run Win7 performance test and the performance in gaming down 0.1 points, it is nothing for me, but for you get the updated drivers if the card supports is the best thing to do (if the driver is good) or do you think best to keep what comes with the laptop?

Always get the most updated drivers. The purpose of new drivers is to make your stuff better. If performance goes down a tad, it's probably for good reason because there's a bug fix.

I always go with newer drivers. IDK why people get all hung up on older ones. Matter of preference, though.

Ok, but about the compatibility, NVIDIA put which graphics card support the driver etc. but they doesn't often wrong yes? Its because a long time ago, I used a 6200GT and I download a driver that NVIDIA said that 6200GT supported, but it doesn't because the colors, the look was weird after I installed the new driver, a long time ago.

Don't get hung up on it, dude. Are you even using programs that benefit from OpenCL?

Not really, I just wanted to know. It can be silly, but another doubt, a silly doubt. I am the kind of people that is take care about what have. If I show an image of my 310M config. in GPU-Z it is dangerous? I am asking because I read in the Internet that is possible GPUs be invaded etc. Its a silly ask, but I decided to ask. For you have problem I show informations about my 310M on GPU-Z?

Okay thanks, about the new driver (258.96) you like it? I saw in the Internet that, who installed it, the OpenCL in the GPU-Z appears enabled, why here it is disabled?

OpenCL is like CUDA doesn't it?

Just in a very few scenarios (no games) you'll get benefits of them, and in your case your GPU is very limited so really don't concern yourself about it, It's not worth it.

EDIT: and about the driver version.....well, It's my first Nvidia driver since I used an HD4850 before, but I've no complains of it, so well so far.

I apologize for resurrecting the topic, however, another question arose. In the GPU-Z does not show the fan speed of the GPU, is this normal? I read about the oldest driver 196.75, anybody can explain if the problem is that the FAN was running at 100% or if the problem was that it was running very low (20% or less). I don't understand if the problem was high speed or low speed of the FAN. 258.96 doesn't have problem yes?

The GPU might not even have its own fan. It might just have a heatpipe going to the shared CPU's heatsinkfan.

I don't understand very much. My doubt is: 258.96 about refrigeration its OK yes? In your opinion I was stupid to have updated unnecessarily, since the driver 189.11 was great? Now I'm running the latest version (258.96), in his opinion I should go back to the 189.11 or 258.96 in the same stand, without guilt?
