I don't think it is possible to bench on the same system. There is also an insane amout of preparation, for example protecting the motherboard and it's components, most overclockers use their own methods, most of the time they are destructive to a certain amount. Some even use electrical mods. Also if any of the components fail, what happens next? Do the contest all over again? It's imposible to bench on the same system.

Although swapping mobos isn't practical, CPU swaps could at least be enforced.

It is also possible to reduce time usage by breaking the contestants into small groups, the winners of each contesting the final. It still will take at least twice a long to run the contest though.
