as much i would concern the battery capacity as how long it can last to maintain basic function with such cpu/gpu/ram......

So, thats the equivalent of a desktop 4850 (in terms of bandwidth, fill rate), albeit with DX11 functionality......

A 2GB 4850 would be a waste of time on a desktop, why would it be any less in a laptop.

I wouldn't pay 1.5k for a laptop. It's immoral to me.
Impressive and not too expensive.
Really nice thing.
Yeah, Acer doesn't usually price their laptops very high.

It is NOT the equivalent of the desktop model. Specs are somewhat lower than the desktop card. Think for around 5770 performance I would guess.

2Gb of dedicated ram on that GPU is a waste IMO, unless you plan to plug that laptop into a 32" screen to play games - 1Gb is all you'll need at the most, not to mention that at that resolution the mobility card wont be great playing more intensive games as the sub 5770 performance will hold it back.

you will never be able to play at a resolution that requires 2gb of dedicated ram with that laptop.

on a more positive note -it would make a pretty half decent mobile gaming machine

.Edit.

It is NOT the equivalent of the desktop model. Specs are somewhat lower than the desktop card. Think for around 5770 performance I would guess.

and its the 5870mobility that offers 5770 performance - therefore this 5850M will offer under 5770 performance... 4850 sounds about right...
