question about cloning drive

i have 2 drives:
- a samsung f3 500gb with 200gb for OS and 300gb for files
- a wd2500js (also 7200rpm) for files

would it be better if it move the OS to the wd and keep the F3 for files only? like speed wise?

if yes how can i do it?

If I were you I would put the OS on the 250BG WD and use the entire 500GB of the Smsung drive for the data. That way of the OS disk takes a crap or needs to be reloaded/upgraded, you don't have to worry about the data.

DON'T FORGET TO BACK UP YOUR DATA SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!
(Sorry for yelling but it's the single most inportant thing you can do to preserve your data)

thanks! but will the load time be faster that way? and what program should i use?

edit: so i guess what i need to do are:

-back up the OS partition in the F3 drive
-back up the data in the WD drive
-format and install OS in the WD drive
(this means no format for the F3 drive...)

....

Should be a cloning tool on WD website, not sure what its called probably not going to say cloning in the name. Could say ghosting though, it's same thing

Acronis® True Image™ Home 2011 is another alternative. I use it to clone customer's drives all the time. Think it's a purchased copy, but I used a trial for myself recently, too.

sorry for bumping this old thread. i tried acronis wd edition but ran into a problem. here is what i did:

i formatted the WD data drive (232gb)
i tried acornis to clone the OS from the Samsung drive to the WD drive but got this error:

"error code 3: internal error: script is inconsistent"

what should i do now?

EDIT: actually i got acronis to work and it completed all its work (about 30-45min) to the point when it asks to press any key to shutdown

when i try to turn the computer back on, when at the screen where it verify DMI pool data, this message pops up:

"BOOTMCR is missing"

what to do now?
