Hey guys,

has anyone had a chance to look into the new ASUS Striker Extreme?

If so, i'd like some feedback... what real user performance increases are we likely to see? Performance / Price ratio justification etc?

What do u guys think about the layout of the piping on the board around the CPU? Limits the Cooling capability?

Any 775 boards with similar performance but half the price?

Opinions always welcome!

P.S. i like the power off blue illumination lights ;)

I myself am looking into that board. Looks and sounds like a good board but I'm not that happy with Asus at the moment my P5B deluxe wi-fi is a peace of crap returned it 2 times. I am using sli now so I'm looking for a board that's designed for that. I also want a board with NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI.

I'm going to give Asus 1 more chance. Tomorrow I'm going to get a return my p5b and get a ASUS P5N32-E SLI . I hope this is the last time for a while. Wish me luck.

The only problem with the heat pipe systems i find is when you what to upgrade the Northbridge cooling, it tends to become a problem.

P5N32-E SLI and the Striker Extreme share almost the same PCB.

I wonder if BIOS flash can mix the two? :p

Its actually a beautiful and very good board. Its their ROG (Republic of Games ((and Overclockers)) line. I think its worth a nice shot to use. They also have two other boards in their ROG series, and the newest one is bad ass.

I think you mean south bridge, and if you get rid of the heat pipe, You have to put some sort of heat sink where they lead... atm i have this problem, just to let you know

the abit-max killed it in the review, but this can support the 88's...

i dunno if it worth 500 smackers, but it does look good.

so far EVGA looks to be the best in my book in terms of 680...never been a fan with asus.

Well i wanna upgrade my silly heat pipe southbridge system which gets pretty dam hot, but i cant cause if i replace it with a swift-tech cooler, there will be a spot which also needs a different heatsink.

Just google A8N-SLI Premium (dont get confused with the ones with out heat pipes) and you'll see what i mean
