Ok, check sys specs for more details but:

200Mhz @ 16x Multiplier...
Variant Voltage (is this common? As i try to measure it it keeps fluctuating...)
I have the ASUS P5VDC-X mobo with Bios version 0701

I am only able to use the AI settings to overclock 5% to 3.36Ghz... I want to go higher but even on 3.36 it sometimes crashes out when under severe load...

I can only overclock in percentages (5%, 10% up to 50%) and want to go as high as poss... I can change the PCI-e to async but that shouldn't be a prob cos Radeon X800 should be able to handledifferent levels rite?

Could this be a voltage problem? Mobo problem? I know how confusing this can be but just can't find a solution...

Could it just be the processor itself? good ol intel screwing me over?

Help appreciated

Cheers:toast:

You are going to have to do it manually. Using Asus's AI and overclocking by percentages isn't going to get you anywhere. Put your memory on a divider so it will operate at a lower speed since most likely it can't handle the overclock. Then slowly move your FSB up checking for stability, when It becomes unstable up the voltage a little. Rinse, wash, repeat.

Your memory could be the main issue. What brand model? Value editions? Not a good starting point unless you put the memory on a divider.
