I'm in the process of buying an ATI 5770 graphics card and I've heard mentioned that I may need a more powerfull PSU. The PSU I currently have is 430w and I'm running an ATI 2600XT graphics card. Can anyone advise if I do need to update what sort of wattage am I looking to go up to?

It depends... If your psu is 'noname' or 'codegen' or something like that, than you must change your psu. If you have any good branded PSU than it will do the job. Can you give specification of your computer?

Does your PSU came with a PCI-e connector? Is it true rated?

Full PC spec pls, for all we know you are running an i7 oc to 3.8Ghz processor behind the "430w PSU". I would say its ok though.

You will be fine, surprisingly the peak of a 2600 xt is about 130W. 5770's range is about 125W. Meaning if you show no problems right now then in theory you wouldn't show problems with the new card.

I would not consider trust in better brands for PSUs. And I would recommend new PSU. 650w brand would do for now and for future upgrades that you gonna do.

Need to mention, I do condone replacing an old power supply though! :)

On other thing, you may also notice your PC could even run cooler and more efficient.
