I have two c.p.u.s two try out for fast gameing on my old rig.

1) intel p4 550 3.4 Gig 800 fsb 1 mb case
2) intel p4 630 3.0 Gig 800 fsb 2 mb case

I use them for playing old games on my old rig
What is the best c.p.u. in them two ?

The first chip has half the cache and only a 400MHz bump in speed then the 630, so if you're equipped with a good board, cooling, Memory etc. you can easily exceed it with the benefit of the extra cache.

So more case is better than mhz over the 550

Why don't you just try both to see which performs better? Also, how old is old?

I have the 550 running inside the case now but the heat it gives off is about 40 oc
On full load the 630 only gives off about 32 OC when running in the same rig
What i tend two find is the 550 runs very hot fast when doing any gameing on the rig
But i need a fast cpu for my gameing and i think the 630 just cant cut it or am i wrong
need in put on this ;)

I allway thourt mhz was the key two speed on cpus then the case on the chips
